To check whether your YouTube channel has an active copyright strike, sign in to YouTube Studio and look for Active copyright strikes on the Dashboard. If a particular stream was removed, open Content, filter by Copyright, and select See details on the removed item. A stream stopping is a reason to check—not proof on its own that a strike was issued.
Check strike status in YouTube Studio on desktop
- Sign in to YouTube Studio using the account for the channel that ran the 24/7 stream.
- Open Dashboard and look for Active copyright strikes. This is the channel-level status, rather than a status limited to one stream.
- To inspect a specific removed stream, select Content from the left menu and filter the list by Copyright.
- Find the item marked Removed. Hover over Copyright in its Restrictions column and choose See details.
- Review the status and the content identified in the notice. The details may also identify the claimant and, where applicable, the infringing audio track.
The public-facing help pages cannot tell you whether your individual channel currently has a strike; you need authorized access to that channel’s Studio or its strike notification.
Check on the YouTube Studio mobile app
- Open the YouTube Studio app and tap your profile picture.
- Choose Account status.
- Under channel violations, review Copyright strikes. Open an alert to see information about the affected video and available resolution steps.
Tell a Content ID claim from a copyright strike
A Content ID claim is not the same as a copyright strike. YouTube says a claim typically does not result in a strike. A strike follows a copyright removal request that YouTube accepts as valid, resulting in removal of the content. Disputing a claim without a valid reason can lead the copyright owner to submit a removal request.
So, a copyright match or claim alone does not establish that your channel has a strike. Check the channel’s active-strike status and the specific notice in Studio.

What a stopped 24/7 live stream means
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including another live broadcast. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the material continues, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. YouTube advises: “If your live stream stops, check your YouTube Studio dashboard for strikes.” A stopped stream is not, by itself, confirmation that a strike exists.
If you have a license for the content, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.

Understand the strike and live-stream restrictions
YouTube’s published policy guidance says removal of an active live stream for copyright results in a copyright strike. Its current strike guidance says the first such removal restricts live-stream access for seven days; another copyright strike extends the live-stream restriction to 14 days. Check the notice and account status in Studio for the restriction that applies to your channel.
YouTube says a copyright strike expires after 90 days if you complete Copyright School, provided your channel has fewer than three strikes. Other resolution routes include obtaining a retraction or submitting a valid counter notification. Three active strikes within the stated period may make a channel subject to termination. These are YouTube policy durations and thresholds, not a prediction of your channel’s status.

Deleting the stream does not normally remove a strike
Deleting a video does not ordinarily resolve a strike that has already been issued. The exception is a scheduled copyright removal request: its notice may provide a seven-day window to delete the content and avoid the strike. Follow the deadline and instructions in the notice rather than assuming deletion will clear an existing strike.

Keeping a stream online continuously does not change where you check for strikes: use the channel-level Studio status and inspect a removed item for its details. A cloud service cannot prevent a rights complaint or remove a strike, so confirm that the videos and audio you stream are authorized for your use.
