Run an encoder such as FFmpeg on a Hetzner VPS and send its video feed to a YouTube Live stream using the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Before you start, confirm your channel can go live, choose settings that fit your source and available upload bandwidth, and make sure you have the rights to every video and audio track. A VPS can keep the encoder running without your home computer, but it cannot guarantee uninterrupted delivery to YouTube.

What you need before configuring the VPS

  • A YouTube channel that is verified, has live streaming enabled, and has no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned start.
  • A Hetzner Cloud Server or vServer with an operating system and an installed encoder. The exact server size and traffic suitability depend on your source, settings, product, and location; confirm those details against your current plan.
  • A video source and any accompanying audio that you own or are authorized to broadcast worldwide.
  • A stream created or configured in YouTube Studio, which provides the stream URL and key your encoder needs.

Set up the YouTube Live stream

  1. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming workflow and create or configure a stream. Check the channel’s live-stream eligibility and restrictions before scheduling a continuous broadcast.
  2. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into your encoder configuration. Treat the key like a password: anyone who gets it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it in a script repository, screenshot, or public support post.
  3. Select RTMPS when the encoder supports it. YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension of RTMP. Confirm that the URL and key are entered in the correct fields and correspond to the same YouTube stream.
  4. Set the stream’s title, visibility, and other details in YouTube Studio, then start a private or otherwise suitable test before relying on the broadcast. Confirm that YouTube receives the feed and that both picture and sound are correct.

Choose video and audio settings

Use settings the source actually supports and the VPS can sustain. YouTube lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video, up to 60 frames per second, and AAC or MP3 audio. Encoder options vary by installed software build and hardware; use a codec and options supported by your encoder rather than assuming every VPS can encode every format efficiently.

Target YouTube H.264 bitrate reference When to consider it
720p at 30 fps 3 Mbps recommended by YouTube A modest starting target when the source is 720p or capacity is constrained.
1080p at 30 fps 14 Mbps recommended by YouTube When the source and sustained VPS upload capacity support the higher rate.

These are YouTube recommendations, not promises of picture quality or evidence that a particular Hetzner plan can sustain the rate. Avoid upscaling a low-resolution source simply to select a larger output size. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Use constant bitrate encoding, and choose a frame rate no higher than the source requires.

Leave upload bandwidth headroom: YouTube recommends 20% room beyond the stream bitrate. That capacity must be sustained by the VPS’s outbound connection, not merely shown in a brief speed test. If capacity is uncertain, reduce resolution or bitrate and test with representative movement and audio before going live.

Run a continuous feed from the VPS

FFmpeg’s official documentation describes RTMPS and demonstrates sending a file to an RTMP server in real time. Those building blocks do not establish a tested command for looping a particular Hindi video playlist on a Hetzner server. FFmpeg flags can differ by installed build, so check that build’s current options and validate the command with a short test before configuring a persistent service.

  1. Install an FFmpeg build that includes the protocols and encoders you intend to use. Check its reported build configuration and available options before relying on H.264, H.265, AV1, AAC, or RTMPS support.
  2. Prepare a local video source or playlist on the VPS. Verify that every file opens, has the intended audio, and plays through the desired transition or loop point. A broken file or malformed playlist can stop the feed even when the server remains online.
  3. Configure the encoder to read the source in real time, apply the selected video and audio settings, and send the output to YouTube’s RTMPS stream URL with the stream key. Keep credentials out of logs and public files. Use the encoder documentation for the installed version rather than copying an unverified command.
  4. Start the encoder and verify the incoming preview and stream health in YouTube Studio. Listen and watch for sync problems, silent sections, unexpected gaps, and source transitions.
  5. Run the encoder under a process supervisor or service manager configured for your operating system so it can restart after a process exit or VPS reboot. A restart policy helps with local process failures; it does not prove YouTube is receiving a healthy feed.
  6. Monitor the process and the YouTube stream during operation. Test any recovery or failover setup before depending on it. YouTube’s streaming tips discuss testing encoder failover, but a backup encoder is not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.

Can you loop Hindi videos on a 24/7 YouTube Live stream?

Technically, an encoder can repeatedly send a file or playlist as a live feed. Whether the content may lawfully and practically remain on YouTube is a separate question. You are responsible for having the necessary rights to all video, music, performances, and other material, including rights for worldwide use. A song being in Hindi, publicly accessible, or credited in the description does not by itself grant broadcast permission.

Copyright matching can interrupt a licensed stream

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. It may show a placeholder and warn the creator; if matching content remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. YouTube advises creators using licensed third-party live content to ask the rights holder to allowlist the channel through Content ID. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted.

Reused content and live-stream eligibility

Permission to broadcast and compliance with YouTube rules are distinct from any decision about monetization. Do not assume that permission to loop someone else’s video guarantees monetization eligibility. The material available here does not establish a specific monetization outcome for a given channel or video. Check YouTube’s current policies for your channel and content before planning around revenue.

What 24/7 means for reliability and cost

A VPS removes the need to keep a home computer and connection running, but the complete delivery path still depends on the encoder, server, network route, YouTube ingestion, and the stream itself. Hetzner’s Cloud and vServer service agreement describes commercially reasonable efforts toward 99.9% monthly availability for Cloud Servers. That is not an end-to-end YouTube delivery guarantee, and the agreement excludes certain causes, including customer software or configuration failures and some external network problems.

Do not estimate a month of continuous streaming from an assumed traffic allowance, outbound rate, overage price, or server size. Those details need to be checked for the exact Hetzner product and location you plan to use. Calculate expected data transfer from your actual bitrate and running time, then compare that estimate with the current plan terms. A 24/7 stream also needs monitoring and a tested recovery plan; neither a VPS availability commitment nor an automatic process restart ensures YouTube will receive uninterrupted video.

Troubleshooting common failures

Symptom Likely cause What to check
YouTube does not receive a feed Wrong stream URL or key, an inactive stream, unsupported protocol, or encoder connection failure. Confirm the URL and key belong to the selected YouTube stream, verify RTMPS support in the installed encoder, and inspect the encoder’s connection output without exposing the key.
Stream starts but drops or buffers Insufficient sustained outbound capacity, unstable network path, VPS resource pressure, or encoder overload. Check server and network resource use, leave YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom, and test a lower bitrate or resolution.
Video is rejected or appears unstable Settings outside the chosen encoder’s capabilities, unsupported codec options, or unsuitable keyframe interval. Use an available encoder and codec, set a two-second keyframe interval where supported, and do not exceed four seconds.
Video plays but audio is missing or wrong Source audio track or encoder mapping/settings do not match the intended output. Inspect the source’s audio track and test the full output in YouTube Studio before the public broadcast.
Live stream is replaced by a warning or placeholder, or is interrupted A third-party content match or rights issue. Remove material you are not authorized to use. For licensed third-party live content, ask the rights holder about allowlisting your channel through Content ID.
Encoder does not return after a restart No service or supervisor restart policy, or the process exits on a source or configuration error. Check service logs, validate the source and settings, and test recovery deliberately. A process restart alone does not confirm the YouTube feed resumed.
