Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If your YouTube radio livestream actually goes offline, check the Live Control Room health messages, encoder output and logs, upload connection, stream settings, and YouTube Studio notices before restarting it. If only the recording is missing, that is a different problem: YouTube warns that a stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive. That warning is not evidence of a universal 12-hour limit on live broadcasts.
First determine what “stops” means
Check the public watch page and YouTube Studio before changing settings. A stream that is still live but buffering points to a different problem from a broadcast that has ended, and both differ from a live broadcast whose archive is missing or incomplete.
- The watch page is offline: investigate the encoder, its source and transmission, the outbound connection, stream settings, and channel notices.
- The watch page stayed live, but the archive is missing or incomplete: YouTube says a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is an archive warning, not a documented automatic cutoff for the live broadcast.
- The watch page remains live, but viewers report buffering or poor audio/video: check stream health, encoder output, and the upload connection; the broadcast may not have ended.
YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup for long streams. Check that the recording is actively growing during the broadcast, then verify that the resulting file plays afterward.
Check YouTube’s health messages and channel notices
Read the Live Control Room messages
- Open the stream in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Review the health indicator and any error messages. Note the text and timestamp before restarting, if possible.
- Compare the time of the message with encoder logs and any local recording. The timing can help show whether the problem began with the encoder, connection, or another event.
YouTube says Live Control Room messages identify streaming problems; critical errors can prevent an event from starting or cause problems for viewers. The exact message and its timing are more useful than assuming the stream ended because it reached a particular duration.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Look for copyright or policy enforcement
Check YouTube Studio for copyright or Community Guidelines strikes and notices. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; if identified material remains after a warning, a stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. A music licence does not necessarily prevent an automated match: the rights owner may need to add the channel to their Content ID allowlist. If you find a notice, follow its details rather than repeatedly restarting the same content.
Separate an encoder or source fault from an upload problem
Inspect what the encoder is sending
- Confirm that the encoder is still running and transmitting to the intended YouTube stream.
- Check the encoder’s logs for errors around the time the stream ended.
- Check CPU load and whether the audio and video sources are still present and routed correctly.
- If you made a local recording, compare it with the stream. A healthy local file alongside a failed broadcast can help narrow attention to transmission or the connection; problems in both may point toward the encoder or its sources.
If the encoder’s picture and sound are healthy but YouTube is no longer receiving the stream, test the outbound internet connection. Do not treat a good download speed as proof of adequate upload capacity. YouTube recommends testing outbound bandwidth and leaving headroom; it notes that a network disruption can break a stream.

Allow upload headroom
YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% room above the total streaming bitrate. For a primary and backup encoder transmitting at the same time, account for both streams as well as that headroom. If an outbound connection test shows a problem, investigate the connection with your internet provider rather than assuming a faster encoder or different radio file will fix it.
Review auto-stop and how the stream ended
Check whether Auto-stop is enabled and whether the encoder stopped transmitting. YouTube describes auto-start and auto-stop as controls that allow starting or stopping a stream from the encoder; those options may be copied when stream settings are reused. YouTube’s encoder instructions say that stopping transmission ends the stream.

That behavior can explain an ending after the encoder software, a source, or connectivity stops supplying the feed. It does not establish that YouTube automatically ends every stream after several hours. Check the encoder and transmission state before treating elapsed time as the cause.
Prepare a more reliable next broadcast
- Test before going live. Set up the encoder in advance, start a test, and check the preview and stream health.
- Monitor during the broadcast. Keep an eye on YouTube’s health messages and the encoder’s output rather than relying only on the public watch page.
- Record locally. Confirm the local recording is growing and that you have enough storage; verify the finished file after the stream.
- Check recovery arrangements. If you use a backup encoder, test failover instead of assuming it will take over correctly.
- Save evidence when a failure occurs. Note the time, Live Control Room message, encoder log entry, and whether the local recording continued. Those details help distinguish a transmission failure from an archive or policy issue.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not keep a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud handles the looping, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo may be an alternative for running uploaded-video streams, but it does not diagnose or guarantee a fix for an unrelated YouTube, copyright, or channel-policy interruption.
