If YouTube says your channel’s advanced features are disabled, first check YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Computer live streaming is an intermediate feature that phone verification can unlock; advanced features have a separate eligibility process. If the panel shows a live-stream restriction, address that restriction separately rather than trying to bypass it.
How do I enable live streaming on YouTube?
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Check the status of live streaming and follow the next step shown for your channel. YouTube notes that some features have their own eligibility requirements, so read the status for live streaming as well as advanced features.
- If phone verification is incomplete, use the verification option in the feature-eligibility workflow. YouTube sends a code by text message or voice call. A phone number already used to verify two channels may not be available for another verification.
- After completing verification, check the eligibility panel again. If computer live streaming is enabled, you can use YouTube’s normal live-stream setup. If the panel still identifies advanced-feature access or a restriction as the problem, follow the relevant route below.
YouTube lists computer live streaming as an intermediate feature. Phone verification enables access subject to a limited daily limit; advanced-feature access is associated with a higher daily limit. The daily limits and your channel’s current status are account-specific, so use the Studio panel rather than assuming verification removes every limit.
Why are advanced features disabled on my YouTube channel?
Advanced features require phone verification and one additional eligibility route: sufficient channel history, or identity verification by valid ID or video when YouTube offers that option. Identity verification is not offered to every creator, and only the channel’s primary owner can complete it.
Build sufficient channel history
YouTube describes channel history as including channel activity such as uploads, live streams, and audience engagement, together with Google Account signals such as when and how the account was created, how often it is used, and how it connects to Google services. YouTube does not publish a fixed number of days, uploads, or subscribers that guarantees sufficient history. Keep using the account and channel normally, follow YouTube’s policies, and revisit Feature eligibility for updates.

Verify your identity if YouTube offers it
If the option appears in your eligibility workflow, submit an ID or video verification as directed by YouTube. Reviews usually take 24 hours, according to YouTube. After a second unsuccessful verification attempt, YouTube says you must wait 30 days before trying either identity-verification method again; building channel history is an alternative while you wait.
Access can be delayed or removed if YouTube determines that a channel is not complying with its Community Guidelines. Maintaining positive channel history matters; completing phone verification alone does not guarantee advanced-feature access.

How do I appeal a YouTube live-streaming restriction?
A live-stream restriction is distinct from advanced-feature eligibility. Check the email YouTube sent about the restriction and follow its appeal instructions if you believe the decision was made in error. YouTube’s restriction guidance lists possible causes including age-related requirements, copyright restrictions, policy issues, and channels with a significant number of videos whose features are disabled. Check your channel for strikes and whether live streaming is currently available; these possible causes do not, by themselves, identify what happened to a particular channel.
YouTube’s live-streaming tips say: “To live stream, you must have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and have a verified channel.” The 90-day condition is a live-stream eligibility requirement; restoring advanced features does not necessarily clear a separate restriction.

Do not try to stream through another channel while a restriction is active. YouTube identifies that as circumvention and says it may result in account termination.

What if verification is complete but I still cannot go live?
- Recheck the exact feature status. In YouTube Studio, return to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and read the status for live streaming, not only the advanced-features row.
- Look for a separate restriction notice. Review the email from YouTube and check for channel strikes or other policy notices. A restriction can remain even when verification is complete.
- Allow for the stated review period. YouTube says ID or video reviews usually take 24 hours. Check the panel again after the review rather than repeating a submission immediately.
- Check phone-number eligibility. If a code does not arrive or the number cannot be used, try the alternate text or voice-call option where available, or use a different eligible number if YouTube requires it.
- Do not assume a fixed channel-history target. YouTube does not specify a universal number of uploads, subscribers, or days that will unlock advanced features. Continue compliant channel activity and monitor eligibility.
- Do not route around a restriction. Streaming from another channel while the restriction is active can be treated as circumvention.
