For a mostly static music visual, start at 1080p30, H.264 video at 5 Mbps, and stereo audio at 128 Kbps with a 44.1 kHz sample rate. Use constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and RTMPS. These are YouTube’s general live-encoder recommendations—not a special profile for Indian music or 24/7 broadcasts.
Recommended bitrate and settings
YouTube’s encoder guidance sets video bitrate according to codec, resolution, and frame rate, not music genre or country. For a largely static artwork or album-cover visual, 1080p30 is a practical starting point; the 1080p30 recommendation is an editorial inference from YouTube’s general settings, not a platform rule or a test of a particular stream.
| Setting | Starting point | When to adjust |
|---|---|---|
| Video resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30 fps | Choose a lower resolution if your connection cannot sustain the required upload rate reliably. |
| Video codec and bitrate | H.264 at 5 Mbps for 1080p30 | For 720p30, YouTube recommends 3 Mbps. For 1080p60, it recommends 14 Mbps; use 60 fps only if the visual content benefits from it and your upload connection can sustain it. |
| Audio | Stereo at 128 Kbps, 44.1 kHz | YouTube’s guidance does not prescribe a special audio bitrate for Indian music. |
| Bitrate mode | CBR | Use constant bitrate encoding for the live stream. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | Do not exceed 4 seconds. |
| Protocol | RTMPS | YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS and recommends RTMPS. |
YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 as video codec options, with bitrate recommendations that vary by codec. The figures above are specifically for H.264. YouTube automatically transcodes live streams into multiple output formats, so the encoder’s input bitrate does not guarantee a particular playback bitrate for each viewer. See YouTube Help’s live encoder settings.
Check the connection and test before going live
A bitrate setting is useful only if the upload connection can sustain it throughout the broadcast. YouTube recommends checking upload speed, choosing a quality reliable for the available connection, and testing before going live. For a continuous stream, test the actual setup at the intended resolution with the real audio and representative movement in the visual. As YouTube Help puts it: “Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.” Monitor stream health and messages while live.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Confirm the encoder is sending the selected resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate.
- Listen to the audio in the test stream to check that it is present and plays as intended.
- Watch the stream health indicators and encoder messages; address warnings before relying on the stream continuously.
- Do not assume that a bitrate recommendation alone establishes a reliable 24/7 setup. YouTube’s guidance does not define an India-specific bitrate or a dedicated 24/7 profile.
Run the stream yourself with an encoder
You can use streaming software or a standalone hardware encoder. YouTube does not require a particular hardware model for these settings; buying dedicated equipment is optional. In either case, configure the encoder with the values above, connect it to YouTube using your stream key, and test the live feed before leaving it unattended.
- Choose an encoder. Use software or standalone hardware that supports YouTube live streaming and the selected output settings.
- Set the video output. For the recommended starting point, select H.264, 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps, and 5 Mbps. If your upload capacity calls for a lower-bandwidth option, use 1280 × 720 at 30 fps and 3 Mbps.
- Set the audio output. Choose stereo, 128 Kbps, and a 44.1 kHz sample rate.
- Set transmission options. Enable CBR, set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds (no more than 4), and use RTMPS where available.
- Connect to YouTube. Add the stream key in the encoder’s YouTube connection settings. Treat the key as private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Test and monitor. Send a test with the real audio and representative visuals, verify the picture and sound, check upload stability and YouTube stream health, and monitor messages while live.
Copyright and continuous-stream considerations
Technical settings do not grant permission to broadcast music. Before streaming, make sure you have the rights or licences needed for the music, recordings, artwork, and any other material you use. A 24/7 schedule does not change those obligations. YouTube’s bitrate guidance does not establish a separate copyright rule or guarantee that a stream is eligible for monetization.
