For a simple livestream with a host and one guest, use YouTube’s Go live together feature: the host sends an invitation link, the guest joins a waiting room, and the host adds them to the broadcast. It supports rotating guests, but only one guest appears at a time. To show several people simultaneously, compose them into one outgoing program feed with production software or use an eligible Google Meet livestream.
Choose the right way to bring people on stream

These workflows are not interchangeable. Decide whether everyone must be visible at once, how much scene and audio control you need, and whether the accounts meet the relevant eligibility conditions.
Start a YouTube livestream with one guest
- Start or schedule the broadcast. On a mobile device, the host starts a new livestream and enables Go live together. Alternatively, schedule the stream in YouTube Live Control Room on a computer, then start it from a phone.
- Invite the guest. Create an invitation link and send it to the guest.
- Have the guest join. The guest opens the link on a mobile device, selects a YouTube channel, and enters the waiting room.
- Check the guest’s setup. The guest checks audio and video while waiting.
- Add the guest. The host receives a notification and adds the guest to the broadcast.
- Manage the appearance. The host can remove the guest and can rotate guests; only one guest appears at a time. The guest cannot see the host’s livestream analytics, and ads on the stream are attributed to the host channel. YouTube Help
YouTube says the host channel is responsible for ensuring guests and stream content comply with its terms, including Community Guidelines and copyright policy. Review those rules before inviting guests or using third-party media.

Use an encoder and production setup
When a panel, co-op group, or remote team must appear together, arrange each participant in the production software and send the assembled program feed to YouTube through an encoder. The exact steps for adding remote callers depend on the software you choose; the essential distinction is that YouTube receives one produced feed rather than separate on-stream guest slots. Encoder workflows also suit productions involving screens, gameplay, or external audio and video hardware. YouTube Help

Stream a Google Meet meeting to YouTube
Meet livestreaming can broadcast a meeting to YouTube, but it is not available to every account. Google lists eligible Workspace editions and Google One subscribers with at least 2 TB of storage. The YouTube channel must be approved and connected to the meeting, and the person starting the stream needs access to that channel. Confirm eligibility and setup in Google’s current guidance before planning an event. Google Meet Help
Check livestream eligibility and plan ahead
- YouTube’s general livestream guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- YouTube states that creators must be at least 16 to livestream.
- Go live together is described as available to eligible creators, but feature-specific eligibility conditions are not fully established here. Check whether the option appears for the host channel.

Prepare an encoder event
- Set up at least two hours before the event, following YouTube’s encoder guidance.
- Start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start.
- Check the Live Control Room preview before the broadcast begins.
- Monitor audio and video quality during the stream and correct issues as they arise.
These lead times are YouTube’s recommendations for encoder events, not requirements for every mobile guest stream. YouTube Help
Decide what equipment you actually need
The built-in mobile guest flow does not require you to buy production hardware. For an encoder-based production, a microphone can help capture clear speech, and YouTube also describes webcams, headphones, mixers, and multiple cameras as possible equipment. Choose according to the room, how participants are arranged, and the production software; a single-room panel and a remote multi-person call do not need the same gear. YouTube Help

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- The guest link opens, but the guest cannot join: Confirm the guest is opening the invitation on a mobile device, selecting a YouTube channel, and joining the waiting room. If the host cannot enable the feature, check channel eligibility and whether the option is available on that account.
- The group cannot all appear together: This is expected in Go live together, which shows one guest at a time. Switch to a production setup that combines participants into one outgoing feed, or consider Meet if the accounts and channel qualify.
- The Meet-to-YouTube option is unavailable: Check whether the account has an eligible Workspace edition or Google One subscription with at least 2 TB storage, whether the channel is approved and connected, and whether the stream starter has channel access.
- The encoder preview is missing or the broadcast is not ready: Start the encoder early, verify the Live Control Room preview, and check the production setup before the scheduled start. YouTube recommends beginning the encoder at least 15 minutes ahead.
- A guest’s audio or video is poor: Ask them to check audio and video in the waiting room before the host adds them; for more involved productions, review microphones, webcams, headphones, and the rest of the chosen setup.
