To rearrange Streamlabs Desktop’s editor panels, open Editor > Layout Editor, choose or create a layout tab, drag components into place, and select Save Changes. You can resize sections by dragging their edges. This changes the application’s workspace—not the scenes or graphics shown to viewers.
Customize the editor layout
Streamlabs’ Layout Editor controls which components appear in the Desktop editor and how much information they show. The labels and steps below follow Streamlabs’ guide, last updated December 19, 2025; if your installed version places a control differently, use the equivalent controls visible in its Layout Editor.
- Open Streamlabs Desktop. In the left navigation, expand Editor and select Layout Editor.
- Use the selector at the top to choose the layout tab you want to change. To create a separate layout, select Add Tab, enter a name, and select Save New Tab.
- Choose a layout style from the Layout choices on the left. Drag the displayed components into the positions that suit your workflow. You can leave positions empty to keep the editor simpler.
- Select Save Changes in the upper-right. Streamlabs says the app returns to the saved layout.
- To change a panel’s dimensions, hover over its edge and drag.

What the layout changes—and what it does not
The Layout Editor changes the placement and visibility of the editor’s own components. It does not change a scene’s contents or a widget’s appearance.

- Editing during a live broadcast: Studio Mode provides an editable scene view separate from the view viewers see, as described in Streamlabs Desktop Tips and Tricks (Part 2).
- Widget appearance: Customize a widget in the Streamlabs dashboard, then add it as a source in Desktop. Widget themes can be associated with Scene Collections; see What Are Widget Themes and How to Use Them.
If the layout does not look right
- A component is missing: Reopen Layout Editor and check the selected layout style and tab. A component may not be included in the arrangement; drag it into position if available.
- Your edits did not stick: Select Save Changes after arranging the panels, then check that you are viewing the tab you edited.
- A panel is the wrong size: Hover over its edge and drag to resize.
- The change affects the wrong thing: Use Layout Editor for application panels; use Scenes and Sources for stream elements, Studio Mode for preparing scene changes while live, and dashboard widget settings for widget appearance.
