To run a jazz radio-style broadcast on YouTube around the clock, send a continuous audio-and-video feed to YouTube Live through an encoder. First make sure your channel can livestream, prepare a visual to accompany the music, configure the encoder to YouTube’s ingest recommendations, and test the stream. Most importantly, secure the rights to every recording for the territories where the stream can be viewed: owning a file or paying for a music subscription does not by itself grant livestream rights.
Before you build the station: clear the music rights
Technical setup does not grant permission to broadcast recordings. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to exploit the live content throughout the territories where it is available, including music licensing rights involving artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. See YouTube’s livestream terms.
The permissions required depend on your jurisdiction, the territories where viewers can watch, the catalogue and the ownership or agreements behind each recording. Confirm the rights chain for the actual recordings and intended territories before going live; there is no single licensing route that can be specified without those details. A public-domain composition does not necessarily mean a particular recording is cleared, and a personal listening subscription is not a broadcast licence.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can interrupt the broadcast. If you have permission to use music but the stream is still matched, ask the relevant rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube notes that a stream may still be interrupted without this step, including when permission applies only in specified territories. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Make sure your channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Live streamers must be at least 16. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, so activate it well before your planned launch. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming help.
Choose how the stream will run
A radio-style YouTube broadcast still needs a video feed. Pair the music with a station visual, static artwork or animation; the encoder sends the combined audiovisual output to YouTube. YouTube provides the live platform, not the music, programming or licences.

| StreamNeo — cloud relay | Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once and start the stream. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud. | Your home computer does not need to stay on for the relay. Each slot supports one always-on stream, playlists and uploads up to 4K 60fps as supplied, at one flat price per slot. It streams to YouTube only. |
| Local computer and encoder software | Run encoder software such as OBS on a computer and send the composed feed to YouTube Live. | You control the local setup, but the computer, power and network must remain available, and someone needs to monitor it. YouTube lists OBS as free, open-source streaming software. |
| Other cloud or broadcast-grade services | YouTube’s verified-encoder list includes Gyre for continuous streaming of prerecorded videos and AWS Elemental MediaLive as a broadcast-grade service. | Check current pricing, limits, uptime terms and suitability directly with the provider. MediaLive is an advanced option; the available information does not establish whether it is cost-effective for a single station. |
For a DIY encoder setup, the steps below use YouTube Live generally; exact controls vary by encoder and version. YouTube’s verified encoders list is a starting point for choosing software or a service.
Set up a local encoder and start the broadcast
- Prepare the program feed. In your encoder, create a scene or output that pairs the jazz audio with a visual. Check that the audio plays continuously, the visual is intentional, and no unintended desktop notifications or unrelated audio will enter the stream.
- Create a YouTube Live event. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming workflow, create or select the stream, and use its stream key and server details in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel. YouTube’s encoder setup guide covers the workflow.
- Configure the encoder for YouTube ingest. Use a supported video codec (H.264, H.265/HEVC or AV1) and AAC or MP3 audio. Set constant bitrate encoding. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds. For stereo audio, its guidance recommends 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. Select resolution and video bitrate to suit your connection and the visual; a simple station graphic does not automatically need 4K. Consult the current YouTube live encoder settings for the applicable video bitrate guidance.
- Check the upload connection. Measure upload speed and keep the stream bitrate below the available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom. Other household or studio uploads can consume capacity, so test under realistic conditions. A network disruption can break the live feed; see YouTube’s network setup guidance.
- Test before launch. Send a test feed with audio and motion similar to the planned show. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages, then verify the public playback on the channel or watch page and on a mobile device. Listen for clipping, silence, level changes and unwanted noise as well as checking the picture.
- Go live and monitor it. Start the encoder and confirm YouTube receives the feed before making the event public or starting the scheduled broadcast. Keep an eye on stream health and actual playback. A continuous broadcast still needs monitoring: a working encoder does not prevent a network failure or a rights-related interruption.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud loops the uploaded videos, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot supports the video as uploaded up to 4K 60fps for one flat price, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required; one free day is available per account. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing period changes. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, then start your free day.

Costs and operating considerations
YouTube lists OBS as free software, but a local setup still depends on a suitable computer, continuous power and reliable upload bandwidth. YouTube’s guidance does not specify minimum computer hardware for a simple, low-motion jazz feed, so choose based on the encoder’s requirements and test your actual configuration rather than assuming gaming-grade hardware is necessary.
For StreamNeo, plans are available by day, week, month, six months or year, with UPI and cards available in India and card checkout worldwide. Storage is 10 GB per slot, pooled across active slots. For five or more slots, contact StreamNeo support. Compare the operating model as well as the subscription amount: who keeps the feed running, what happens when a connection fails, and whether someone can monitor and recover the broadcast.

Troubleshooting a 24/7 jazz stream
- You cannot start a livestream: Check that the channel is verified, has no live restriction in the previous 90 days, and has completed first-time activation. Activation can take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Recheck the selected event, stream key and server details in both YouTube Studio and the encoder. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- The stream reports unstable health or disconnects: Lower the bitrate to fit the measured upload connection, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% bandwidth headroom, and reduce competing uploads. Check the network path for interruptions.
- Audio is silent, distorted or out of sync: Verify the encoder’s audio source, confirm the intended sample rate and stereo bitrate, and test playback from YouTube rather than relying only on the encoder’s local preview.
- The picture is missing or unsuitable: Confirm that the encoder is sending a video signal along with the audio and that the visual is present in the selected scene. YouTube Live expects an audiovisual feed for this radio-style format.
- The broadcast is interrupted by a music match: Treat it as a rights issue, not merely an encoder fault. Review the matched content and permissions; if the music is licensed for the use, ask the rights owner to allowlist the channel through Content ID.
