YouTube handles the live broadcast; the repeat-playback control belongs to your encoder or cloud playout service. Set up the channel and stream key first, test the playlist, and plan for YouTube’s archive and copyright limits before leaving it running.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. The channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16, according to YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance (current page accessed October 3, 2026).
- Recorded gameplay files you created or have permission to use.
- An encoder that can play the selected files in sequence and repeat them, or a cloud playout service with verified YouTube support and looping controls.
- A stable internet connection for a local encoder. The encoder must remain running and able to access the files for the duration of the broadcast.
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key to receive the video feed. YouTube does not provide a universal playlist-loop function for a live encoder feed; looping is configured in the playback tool. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions (current page accessed October 3, 2026).

Prepare and check the replay files
Choose the recordings and put them in the order you want viewers to see them. Use your own recordings or content you are authorized to rebroadcast. Check that every file plays correctly, has the intended audio, and does not contain material you lack rights to use.
ConcernedApe’s official policy, published May 7, 2021, says: “You can feel free to play Stardew Valley on your streams and videos and also to monetize those streams and videos.” That grants permission for Stardew Valley gameplay streams and videos, including monetization; it does not grant rights to someone else’s recorded gameplay or any third-party music or other material in your files. Confirm that the channel can go live
In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and check whether live streaming is enabled for the channel. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the moment you want to start. Check the current eligibility and status in YouTube’s live-streaming help.

Create or schedule a YouTube Live broadcast
In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Configure the title, description, audience setting, visibility, and start time for the event. In the stream settings, copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key into your encoder’s corresponding fields. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your broadcast. YouTube’s current encoder workflow is documented in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Load the playlist and enable looping in the encoder
Add the replay files in the intended order, then turn on the encoder’s repeat or loop option so playback starts again after the final file. The exact control depends on the software or service and its version. YouTube documents the incoming encoder connection, not a particular encoder’s playlist controls, so consult the current documentation for your chosen tool rather than relying on an assumed menu path.

Preview and test before going public
Start the encoder and check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. Verify the picture, game audio, microphone or other intended audio, file transitions, and stream health. Let at least one transition occur so you know the playlist advances as expected and returns to the first file. Choose how to preserve the broadcast
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a replay, record a local backup and consider ending the broadcast before it reaches 12 hours, then start another session. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Copyright, monetization, and platform rules
Permission to stream Stardew Valley gameplay does not exempt a broadcast from YouTube’s copyright checks. YouTube says it scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. If a match is detected, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the creator; unresolved content can lead to interruption or termination. If you have a license for third-party material, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Details are in YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Keep the replay playlist meaningfully yours: use gameplay you recorded or have permission to use, and review all audio and overlays for third-party material. A game-specific monetization policy is not blanket permission to rebroadcast another creator’s recording or bypass YouTube’s enforcement.

For a local setup, the encoder and files must be available throughout the stream. A capture device is not a default requirement when you already have replay files; it is relevant only to setups that need to bring a console’s live output into an encoder.

Common problems and fixes
- You cannot start the broadcast: Check Live Control Room for channel verification, live-stream eligibility, and restrictions. If this is the channel’s first live setup, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- YouTube shows no incoming video: Confirm the encoder is running, its server URL and stream key match the broadcast, and the stream key has not been replaced. Keep the key private.
- The playlist stops at the end: The repeat setting is controlled by the encoder or playout service, not by YouTube’s encoder ingest. Enable the tool’s loop option and test that it returns to the first file.
- Audio or video is missing or wrong: Check the encoder’s selected file and audio sources, then preview the stream and test a complete file transition before going public.
- The stream is interrupted over a rights match: Review the YouTube warning and remove or replace the flagged third-party material. For content you are licensed to use, ask the rights holder about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
- The broadcast replay is missing: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Keep a local recording and use shorter broadcast sessions when an archived replay matters.
