For a replay clip already saved on your gaming PC, use an OBS Media Source; use NDI when you need to send live gameplay or another live video feed from a second computer. They solve different problems: local media plays a file, while NDI carries a live source over a local network. The right choice depends on whether your replay is already saved or still coming live from another machine.
First decide what you mean by “replay”
- A saved highlight, intro, or match clip: Play the file in OBS with a Media Source. It is the simpler option when the video is already on the streaming PC.
- Live gameplay coming from another PC: NDI can carry that live source across your local network to the streaming setup.
- A clip you want to save while playing: OBS Replay Buffer can capture recent content using a configured hotkey. That capture workflow is separate from sending a second PC’s live output over NDI.
This distinction follows the documented functions of OBS Media Source, OBS Replay Buffer, and NDI; it is a workflow recommendation, not a hands-on performance test.
How the two options compare

Play a saved replay file in OBS
- Put the clip on the streaming PC. Confirm it plays locally before adding it to the scene. If you edit or move the file later, check that OBS still points to its current location.
- Add a Media Source to the scene. In OBS, select the scene, use the Sources “+” button, and choose Media Source. Select the video file in its properties.
- Choose playback behavior. Enable loop if the clip should repeat. Use restart-on-activation when the clip should start from the beginning each time the source becomes active. Leave looping off for a one-time replay.
- Check the scene before going live. Confirm that the source is visible, the framing is right, and its audio is routed as intended. A local file being playable does not by itself configure the separate YouTube output.

Use NDI for a live source from another PC
- Connect the systems to a suitable local network. For high-bandwidth workflows, a wired gigabit network is a practical preference where available. NDI says gigabit networking is essential in production workflows and supports wired networking; that does not mean Wi-Fi is categorically unable to work.
- Check the NDI format and its requirements. Do not treat NDI as one fixed network load. Formats vary in bandwidth and latency. NDI’s figure of up to 150 Mbps is for a typical 1080p60 stream, not a universal setting or guaranteed bitrate.
- Configure the source and receiving workflow on both systems. Make sure the live source is available to the receiving setup and that OBS is using the intended NDI source. Exact setup controls depend on the NDI components and versions in use; the cited material does not establish one universal OBS menu path.
- Test the local feed separately from YouTube output. NDI moves the source over the local network; it does not replace the streaming software’s internet connection and output to YouTube. Check both the incoming picture and the separate stream output.
NDI describes bandwidth as non-deterministic and advises planning around average utilization. Its documentation also discusses multicast filtering, including IGMP snooping, to avoid unnecessary network burden. Check router support and those settings if your workflow uses multicast; this is not a requirement for every home network. Save highlights while streaming: use Replay Buffer
If your goal is to preserve recent gameplay as a clip, OBS Replay Buffer is the relevant feature—not NDI. Configure the buffer and a hotkey in OBS, start it, then use the save hotkey when the moment happens. OBS also documents recording alongside streaming or recording offline. What matters for a YouTube gaming replay stream in India
The local-file-versus-NDI choice is about the source workflow, not a special India-specific setting. The cited documentation does not establish Indian ISP performance, upload speeds, or a best provider. For YouTube, your streaming software still needs a working internet output regardless of whether the video source is a local file or arrives through NDI.
Also make sure you have the rights to the gameplay video, music, and other material you stream. A clip playing correctly in OBS does not establish that you may broadcast it, and this source set does not determine how YouTube will assess any particular replay or channel.

Common problems and what to check
- The saved clip does not appear: Recheck the file selected in the Media Source properties and confirm the file still exists at that location.
- The clip stops when you expected a repeat: Check the Media Source loop setting. For a scene element that should begin again when shown, check restart-on-activation as well.
- The clip restarts unexpectedly: Review restart-on-activation and whether the source is being hidden and shown as part of scene switching.
- The NDI feed stutters or the network feels overloaded: Check the actual NDI format, network capacity, and whether the workflow is wired. The typical 1080p60 figure of up to 150 Mbps is a planning reference, not a fixed rate for every stream.
- Multicast NDI creates unnecessary traffic: Check whether the network equipment supports the required multicast handling and consult NDI’s IGMP snooping guidance.
- NDI is visible locally but YouTube is not receiving a stream: Treat source transport and internet streaming as separate checks. Verify the OBS output and internet connection independently; NDI itself is not the YouTube output.
