You set up YouTube channel memberships in YouTube Studio; a channel’s 24/7 schedule is not listed as a separate disqualifier in YouTube’s membership guidance. To enable them, your channel still needs to meet YouTube’s current eligibility, location, content and policy requirements. If eligible, open YouTube Studio → Earn → Memberships, choose Get started, accept the Commerce Product Module if prompted, then create levels and perks.
Check eligibility before setting up memberships
YouTube lists these lower fan-funding thresholds for channel memberships: 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the past 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 365 days or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days. These thresholds do not guarantee access by themselves. Check YouTube’s YouTube Partner Program eligibility requirements for current details before applying.
- You must be at least 18 and live in a supported location; India is listed as supported.
- You must accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM), or the applicable agreement YouTube presents.
- Your channel cannot be set as Made for Kids, and a significant number of ineligible or Made for Kids videos can affect access.
- Some music channels, including channels under an SRAV contract, may be ineligible.
YouTube’s published membership criteria do not identify continuous, 24/7 operation as a special exclusion. That is not a guarantee that any individual always-on channel will qualify: the normal program, content and policy checks still apply.
Enable memberships in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio.
- In the left menu, select Earn.
- Open the Memberships tab. YouTube says this tab appears only when the channel is eligible.
- Select Get started and follow the on-screen steps.
- If prompted, review and accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM). YouTube says the creator and any MCN must accept it to earn membership revenue.
- Create membership levels and choose the perks each level will receive. Use the options Studio makes available to your channel and follow YouTube’s current perk rules.
After YPP acceptance, activation may take up to two days while YouTube reviews the channel against its eligibility criteria. YouTube describes this as a possible processing period, not a guaranteed deadline. See YouTube’s instructions for turning channel memberships on or off.

Choose levels and perks an always-on channel can deliver
Membership levels can offer different benefits. Platform-supported examples include badges, emoji, members-only content and members-only live streams. Decide what you can reliably provide across your schedule, then describe each perk accurately. A benefit that depends on a creator being present at all hours can be hard to deliver consistently, so make the schedule and availability clear to members.
YouTube’s guidance describes members-only live streams and membership gifts during live streams or Premieres, but it does not provide a separate workflow for attaching those features to a continuous 24/7 stream. Do not promise a particular always-on-stream membership experience unless the feature and your channel’s setup support it.
Perks YouTube does not allow
- Downloads of content, including music, that is already available on YouTube.
- In-person one-to-one meetings.
- Randomly awarded perks, such as contests, lotteries or sweepstakes.
- Perks marketed or directed at children, likely to attract children, or encouraging children to ask their parents to join.
Membership perks, including live chats and content, remain subject to YouTube’s policies. Review the current channel membership policies and setup guidance when defining benefits.

Set India prices and understand recurring payments
YouTube’s India pricing page lists a schedule introduced from May 2025, with updates rolling out gradually. It gives these examples for the newer schedule; a member’s price can vary according to when they joined, and older legacy prices are listed separately. For a new membership, use the country or region price shown in Studio rather than assuming a listed tier is available at that amount for every channel.

These are examples from YouTube’s India channel-membership pricing schedule, accessed in 2026; availability and rollout can vary. Check the live page and the options displayed in Studio when setting levels.
For recurring payments in India, members may need to verify or re-enter payment details under RBI eMandate requirements to keep a membership active. A member’s bank may not support recurring payments. YouTube says creators receive 70% of membership revenue recognised by Google after local sales tax and other fees are deducted; this is not 70% of the displayed price before deductions. Tell viewers how to join
Once memberships are on, direct viewers to the channel’s Join button or share the channel’s /join URL. You can explain the levels and perks in the channel description or stream information, ensuring that the description matches what you actually provide.
Viewers can purchase membership gifts during eligible live streams or Premieres, and eligible viewers must opt in to receive gifted memberships. Gifts are optional; they are not a substitute for explaining the regular membership levels.

- Confirm memberships are enabled. Check the Memberships section in Studio.
- Check location availability. The feature must be available where the channel and viewer are located.
- Check the video. Some music-partner-claimed watch pages are not eligible for the Join button.
- Try another route. Ask the viewer to visit the channel homepage or try from a computer.
