For one prerecorded product demo, add it to OBS as a Media Source and enable Loop. For several finished demos, use a VLC Video source with a playlist. A low-power PC may handle either setup if you keep the output and scene modest, select an encoder available on your machine, and test the stream before going live. For a continuous unattended channel, remember that local looping still depends on the PC, its power, and your internet connection.
Choose the right kind of loop
Decide whether you want to repeat one finished demo, cycle through several finished clips, or broadcast an unattended channel continuously. OBS can loop a media source or playlist; it does not make the computer, power supply, or home network redundant.

Set up a single demo or a playlist in OBS
Loop one video
- Open OBS and choose the scene that will hold the demo.
- In Sources, select + and add a Media Source.
- Name the source, choose the local video file, and enable Loop.
- Confirm the video fits the canvas and preview the point where it restarts. OBS supports MP4 and several other video formats; the exact available playback behavior can depend on the file and system.
Loop several demos
- Install VLC if it is not already on the PC.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source and create or select a playlist of the finished demo clips.
- Check the playlist order and confirm Loop Playlist is enabled. OBS documents this option as enabled by default.
- Preview the transitions between clips and the transition from the last clip back to the first.
OBS documents the Media Source and VLC Video options in its media sources guide. Hardware decoding is an optional source setting; it can help only if the GPU has a suitable decoder.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- If this is your first YouTube livestream, enable live streaming in YouTube Studio ahead of time. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- In YouTube Studio’s live control workflow, create or open the stream and copy its stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube or the appropriate service configuration, then enter the stream details. Use the stream URL and key supplied by YouTube.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not show it in a recording, screenshot, or on-screen scene; reset it in YouTube if it is exposed.
- Start the OBS stream, then check the preview and stream-health messages in YouTube Live Control Room before promoting it as live.

Choose a profile the low-power PC can sustain
There is no reliable universal setting for every low-power computer. CPU and GPU generation, operating system, source files, scene complexity, output resolution, frame rate, and upload capacity all affect the result. Run OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard first: it considers intended use, hardware, and network conditions, then gives you a starting profile.
Start modestly and measure
- Use an output resolution and frame rate that make the product legible without exceeding what the system can encode smoothly. A 30 fps output is often a lighter starting point than 60 fps; OBS notes 60 fps can be much more taxing.
- Keep scenes simple. Remove filters, animated overlays, extra sources, or browser elements you do not need.
- Check whether OBS offers a supported hardware encoder, then test it against software encoding if the machine can manage both. Hardware encoding shifts work away from the CPU, but older-generation encoders can produce lower image quality.
- Use the encoder actually listed in your OBS installation rather than choosing by brand alone. OBS documents NVENC, AMD AMF, and Intel Quick Sync with platform and generation qualifications.
OBS recommends lowering output resolution or frame rate and reducing demanding sources when performance is poor. Its Quick Start Guide, overview, hardware encoding guide, and encoding performance guide explain the relevant controls. Check OBS system requirements for the supported software baseline, but do not treat minimum requirements as a guarantee of smooth streaming.

Match YouTube’s ingest settings to your connection
YouTube’s encoder settings page, accessed in 2026, lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265, and AV1 options. For a common H.264 setup, YouTube recommends CBR and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. Its listed reference bitrates include:

These are starting references, not a promise that a particular home connection or PC will sustain the stream. YouTube recommends choosing a reliable quality based on available upload capacity and running a speed test. Leave headroom for connection variation instead of setting the bitrate at the full measured upload rate. Preflight the demo before going live
- Test with representative movement and audio, not only a static opening frame.
- Confirm important product details and text remain legible at the selected output resolution.
- Listen for clear voice or music and make sure you have the rights to use every audio and video element in the broadcast.
- Watch the loop seam and playlist transitions for black frames, abrupt audio cuts, or an unintended pause.
- Check YouTube’s preview and stream-health messages; fix warnings before relying on the stream.
- Keep an eye on OBS rendering and encoding performance during the test. If the picture stutters or frames are missed, lower output resolution or frame rate, simplify the scene, or test a supported hardware encoder.

Handle copyright, reused content, and archives carefully
A video that loops successfully in OBS is not automatically cleared for YouTube. Use footage, product assets, music, and voice recordings you own or are authorized to broadcast. A product demo made from your own footage is different from replaying someone else’s video, but repeated or minimally changed material can still raise channel monetization and reused-content concerns. Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are separate questions; review YouTube’s current policies for the channel and material involved rather than assuming a loop is exempt.

Plan separately if you need a replay archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a single uninterrupted broadcast longer than 12 hours will produce one complete automatic VOD.
