There is no universal best cloud service for every always-on YouTube Live product demo. For a prerecorded demo loop, a purpose-built service such as StreamNeo is the simplest fit: upload videos, add your YouTube stream key, and let the cloud loop them. For a live camera or screen feed that needs managed encoding, Google Cloud Live Stream API and AWS Elemental MediaLive are plausible options—but they require operational planning, and neither source set establishes a tailored 24/7 bill or guaranteed uninterrupted operation.

Choose by the kind of demo you need to show

A product demo channel may mean a prerecorded loop, a live camera or screen feed, or a mix. Those workflows are not interchangeable: a service built to loop uploaded videos is not a substitute for a live production encoder, while a managed encoder may be more operational machinery than a prerecorded loop needs.

Demo format What the service must do Options to consider
Prerecorded video loop Play uploaded videos continuously and recover if YouTube disconnects. StreamNeo first for a YouTube-only prerecorded loop; YouTube’s encoder help page also identifies Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded streaming.
Live camera or screen feed Encode and push a live input to YouTube, with monitoring and a recovery plan. Google Cloud Live Stream API or AWS Elemental MediaLive, depending on your cloud environment and operational needs.
Mixed production Switch between live input and prerecorded segments, or coordinate more than one workflow. Confirm that the selected service supports the exact switching and fallback workflow; the available documentation does not establish that every option handles it.

Shortlist: start with the workflow, not a universal ranking

1. StreamNeo for a prerecorded YouTube loop

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud keeps the loop running without leaving a computer, OBS, or home connection on. It is the first option to try for this specific prerecorded use case because it is always-on from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day with no card. StreamNeo is for YouTube, not camera-originated live production.

Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. The product is the same across plans; only the billing length changes. See StreamNeo for service details.

2. Google Cloud Live Stream API for managed encoding and remote delivery

Google Cloud Live Stream API can distribute an encoded feed to a remote endpoint over RTMP or SRT. Its documented workflow includes sending an encoded feed into the service and starting a distribution toward the endpoint; this is a managed cloud workflow, not a one-click prerecorded playlist service. See Google Cloud’s remote distribution guide and its API overview.

Continuity needs special attention: Google says a live channel session lasts 24 hours after channel start and that a channel in a streaming state may be restarted after that. Plan monitoring and restart handling rather than assuming a seamless 24/7 session. Google’s quotas and limits do not promise a seamless restart.

3. AWS Elemental MediaLive for AWS-oriented teams

YouTube lists AWS Elemental MediaLive among verified encoders. AWS documents H.264 video and AAC audio for RTMP or RTMPS output. It may suit a team already operating production in AWS, but distinguish the encoder from any packaging or CDN delivery components in the larger architecture. AWS notes that idle push inputs and channels may still incur charges, and delivery outside AWS can add transfer fees. Check MediaLive’s supported codecs and AWS MediaLive pricing.

4. Gyre for prerecorded streaming

YouTube’s encoder help page identifies Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. That listing establishes its relevance to this category, but does not by itself establish fit for camera-based or actively operated demos. Check current capabilities against your actual workflow. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.

Compare continuity, workflow, and cost before committing

Decision factor What to verify Why it matters
Input type Whether you need uploaded-video playback, a live camera/screen input, or both. Prerecorded-loop services and managed encoders solve different jobs.
Recovery How you detect a lost feed, reconnect it, and handle planned restarts. Google documents a possible channel restart after a 24-hour session; do not assume a provider’s restart is seamless.
Output path Whether the encoder pushes RTMP/RTMPS directly to YouTube or requires a distribution workflow. Intermediate services can add configuration, cost, and failure points.
Cost model Active encoding, idle resources, outputs, network transfer, region, resolution, and any packaging/CDN service. A quoted component price or reference architecture is not a tailored 24/7 bill.
Operations Who monitors alerts, stream health, keys, and recovery outside business hours. A cloud-hosted encoder still needs a workable operating plan.

Google Cloud bills by active channel time and resolution, with output charges and an endpoint fee for distribution; a channel may count as active even without an input. See Google Cloud Live Stream API pricing. AWS’s deployment-planning example gives $1.99 per hour for its specified sample channel’s MediaLive input and outputs, not a single-YouTube-output quote. A separate $69.74-per-hour example covers a specified one-hour event with 1,000 viewers, including encoding, packaging, and CloudFront distribution; it is a scenario estimate, not a quote for this channel. Consult AWS’s deployment planning guide and calculate against your own topology.

Set up the YouTube ingest correctly

  1. Prepare the channel and stream in YouTube Studio. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup guidance to create or select the live stream and obtain its stream URL and key. Treat the key as a secret: use it only in the encoder or service that should broadcast to your channel.
  2. Choose the ingest protocol. YouTube Help recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP. Use the protocol and ingest URL provided for your stream; do not substitute an unrelated endpoint.
  3. Match encoder settings to YouTube’s current guidance. Set codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate mode, bitrate, and keyframe interval using YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. Avoid guessing a single bitrate for every resolution and frame rate; follow the applicable row in YouTube’s table and confirm the encoder is actually sending those settings.
  4. Configure the selected cloud workflow. For Google Cloud, follow its remote distribution guide to supply an encoded input and configure the output endpoint. For MediaLive, configure an RTMP or RTMPS output using a supported video/audio combination. For a prerecorded loop service, upload the video or playlist and enter the YouTube stream key as its setup requires.
  5. Start with a controlled test. Confirm that YouTube receives video and audio, that the expected resolution and frame rate appear, and that the stream is visible before relying on it as an unattended channel. Test recovery procedures rather than waiting for a real outage.

Plan around YouTube’s archive and content rules

YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish automatic archiving for a continuous stream lasting 12 hours or longer, so do not treat a full-day broadcast archive as guaranteed. If the demo needs a replay, preserve a separate recording or verify the available archive in YouTube Studio. The 12-hour limit is stated in YouTube’s encoder help.

Estimate the operational commitment

Before choosing a managed encoder, write down the source type, target resolution and frame rate, region, expected audience, output destination, and recovery target. Estimate both active and idle time, plus output and transfer costs; include monitoring and the person responsible for restarting or investigating a failed stream. For a prerecorded loop, estimate upload time with the upload-time calculator. To compare hosted playback with a computer-based setup, use the cloud vs PC cost calculator.

Troubleshoot common always-on failures

  • YouTube shows no incoming data: Check that the selected stream URL and key match the active YouTube stream, the encoder is sending to the correct RTMP/RTMPS endpoint, and outbound connectivity is available.
  • The broadcast starts but video or audio is missing: Verify the encoder’s selected video and audio tracks, supported codecs, and output profile. For AWS RTMP/RTMPS, the documented codecs include H.264 and AAC.
  • Quality is unstable or YouTube reports an issue: Compare actual resolution, frame rate, bitrate, bitrate mode, and keyframe interval with YouTube’s published settings. Check the available upload bandwidth and avoid configuring a bitrate that the source connection cannot sustain.
  • A Google Cloud channel stops or restarts: Include the documented 24-hour session boundary in your monitoring and restart workflow. The documentation says a channel may be restarted; it does not guarantee uninterrupted handoff.
  • A bill grows while no video is arriving: Check channel state and allocated outputs. Google notes that an active channel may be billed without input; AWS warns that idle push inputs and channels may incur charges.
  • The stream is live but no full-day replay appears: YouTube’s cited archive statement covers streams shorter than 12 hours. Keep an independent recording if the complete demo session must be retained.
