For 1080p at 30 fps on YouTube Live, use 14 Mbps for H.264, YouTube’s recommended live video bitrate. If your encoder and YouTube’s ingest path support AV1 or H.265 (HEVC), YouTube recommends 10 Mbps for either of those codecs at the same resolution and frame rate. With H.264, plan for about 17.5 Mbps of stable upload capacity for the stream alone to leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Your JioFiber plan’s advertised speed is not a substitute for measuring actual upload performance.
Recommended YouTube Live settings for 1080p30
| Setting | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30 fps |
| Video bitrate, H.264 | 14 Mbps recommended; 5 Mbps minimum |
| Video bitrate, AV1 or H.265 (HEVC) | 10 Mbps recommended; 4 Mbps minimum |
| Rate control | CBR (constant bitrate) |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds |
| Audio for RTMP/RTMPS | AAC or MP3; YouTube’s advanced guidance lists 128 Kbps for stereo |
These are YouTube’s live-ingestion recommendations, not its separate settings guidance for uploading prerecorded videos. The H.264 and AV1/H.265 figures apply to different codecs: don’t select a bitrate from one row without checking which codec your streaming software is sending. YouTube Help lists these figures in material accessed in 2026; the pages do not state publication dates. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.
Is JioFiber upload speed enough?
It depends on your subscribed plan and the upload speed available where and when you stream. YouTube recommends leaving 20% room between your stream’s total bitrate and available upload bandwidth. At 14 Mbps video bitrate, dividing by 0.8 gives approximately 17.5 Mbps of stable upload capacity for the video stream alone. This is a practical calculation from YouTube’s guidance, not a JioFiber guarantee.
Allow additional capacity for audio if it is not already included in your total bitrate, as well as for other devices using the connection. YouTube cautions that download speed is often higher than upload speed and recommends testing upload bitrate. YouTube’s network guidance says, “Leave a bit of room (20% recommended).”

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check your actual upload, not just the plan name
Jio’s plan comparison page shows examples including 30 Mbps upload and download and 100 Mbps upload and download. Those displayed symmetric plan rates are useful context, but they do not establish your subscribed tier, local availability, or sustained throughput during a live stream. Check your own plan and test the connection you will actually use. JioFiber broadband plans.
- Run an upload speed test near the time and place of your stream. YouTube specifically recommends testing upload bitrate.
- Test with your home network in its normal state, including any devices or services that will upload data during the broadcast.
- Compare the measured, steady upload capacity with the stream’s total bitrate. For H.264 at 14 Mbps, target roughly 17.5 Mbps of stable upload for the stream alone, then account for competing use.
- If the result is inconsistent or too close to the required capacity, reduce competing uploads or choose a lower stream bitrate and test again. Do not assume an advertised download figure proves upload headroom.
Configure and test the stream
- Choose the codec and bitrate. Set H.264 to 14 Mbps for YouTube’s 1080p30 recommendation. Use 10 Mbps only when using AV1 or H.265 and the encoder and YouTube ingest path support that codec.
- Set rate control to CBR. Constant bitrate keeps the configured video bitrate steady, which is YouTube’s recommended live setting.
- Set keyframes to every two seconds. Do not configure an interval longer than four seconds.
- Set audio appropriately. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3; its advanced guidance lists 128 Kbps for stereo audio.
- Run a realistic pre-event test. Include audio and movement similar to the planned stream so the test reflects the actual workload.
- Monitor stream health while live. Watch YouTube’s stream-health status and respond if it reports an ingestion or connection issue.
Troubleshooting bitrate and connection problems
- Stream health reports insufficient bandwidth or the stream drops: Check measured upload rather than download speed, confirm other devices are not consuming upload capacity, and compare the total bitrate with available headroom. If needed, lower the bitrate and repeat a realistic test.
- Your plan advertises enough Mbps, but the stream is unstable: An advertised plan rate does not establish sustained upload at your location and time. Test the actual connection near the broadcast and include normal household use.
- The encoder’s recommended bitrate seems different from YouTube’s: Verify the selected codec. YouTube’s 14 Mbps recommendation is for H.264; its 10 Mbps figure is for AV1 or H.265 at 1080p30.
- The encoder or ingest path does not support AV1 or H.265: Use H.264 at the recommended 14 Mbps rather than choosing a codec your setup cannot send reliably.
- Keyframes are rejected or settings do not match guidance: Set a two-second keyframe interval and keep it at or below four seconds.
Or let it run in the cloud
