YouTube Live Settings for 1080p 24fps Movie Loops

Use 1920×1080 at 24 fps, CBR, and 2-second keyframes. YouTube has no published 1080p 24 fps bitrate, so test the closest 30 fps reference against your actual loop and connection.

For a movie that is already 1920×1080 at 24 fps, send it to YouTube Live at that same progressive resolution and frame rate. Use CBR, set keyframes every 2 seconds (never more than 4), and prefer RTMPS if your encoder supports it. YouTube does not publish a 1080p 24 fps bitrate: its nearest reference is the 1080p 30 fps row, so treat that as a starting point and test your actual loop rather than presenting it as an exact 24 fps recommendation.

Recommended encoder settings for a 1080p 24 fps movie

These are YouTube’s general live-encoder settings, adapted to a source that is already 1080p at 24 fps. Setting the encoder to match the source avoids needlessly changing its frame rate or dimensions.

Setting Recommended value
Resolution and scan 1920×1080 progressive
Frame rate 24 fps
Rate control CBR
Keyframe interval 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds
Video codec H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1, if supported by your encoder and RTMP/RTMPS workflow
Audio codec AAC or MP3
Audio sample rate 44.1 kHz stereo is listed in YouTube’s advanced recommendations
Ingest protocol RTMPS when supported

See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for its current general guidance. YouTube detects resolution and frame rate automatically by default. If you need to choose them manually, create a custom stream key and enable manual settings under Stream Resolution in Live Control Room. YouTube transcodes the incoming stream into output formats for viewers on different devices and networks.

Choosing a bitrate without a published 24 fps figure

YouTube’s official bitrate table does not list 1080p at 24 fps. The closest published H.264 reference is 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for 1080p at 30 fps. For AV1 or H.265, the 1080p 30 fps row lists 4 Mbps minimum and 10 Mbps recommended. These are 30 fps figures, not official recommendations for a 24 fps movie.

Codec YouTube’s 1080p 30 fps reference How to use it
H.264 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended Nearest published reference only; test at 24 fps
AV1 or H.265/HEVC 4 Mbps minimum; 10 Mbps recommended Nearest published reference only; test at 24 fps

Do not treat those values as a precise 24 fps target or as proof one codec will look better for your specific movie. The result depends on the material, its existing encode, encoder support, and upload connection. Start with the closest published reference for the codec you can use, then test the real loop and adjust based on the stream’s stability and picture.

Set up and test the stream

  1. Prepare the movie and confirm its format. Check that the source is 1920×1080 progressive at 24 fps. Use content for which you have the necessary rights to stream.
  2. Configure the encoder. Set 1920×1080, 24 fps, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Choose a supported video and audio codec, and use RTMPS if available.
  3. Get the stream connection details. In YouTube Live Control Room, copy the RTMPS URL and stream key for the broadcast. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
  4. Check upload capacity. Run a speed test and leave enough upload headroom for a stable broadcast. A connection that only barely reaches the configured video bitrate can be vulnerable to fluctuations.
  5. Test with representative content. Include audio and moving scenes similar to the movie loop. YouTube Help advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.”
  6. Go live and monitor stream health. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators while broadcasting; investigate warnings rather than assuming a successful connection means viewers are receiving a clean stream.

Clear movie and soundtrack rights before going live

YouTube’s livestream terms state that the content provider represents and warrants it has all necessary rights for exploitation of the live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights. Owning a copy of a movie is not, by itself, evidence that you have permission to broadcast it.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party material. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the creator; if the material remains, the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. If you have licensed third-party material, YouTube instructs you to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Rights clearance and monetization are separate

Permission to stream a movie does not automatically make a channel or broadcast eligible for YouTube Partner Program monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams and include a reused-content policy. Repurposed material without significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value may be ineligible even when the creator has permission. Do not assume that owning or licensing a movie guarantees monetization.

Troubleshooting common problems

  • YouTube shows an unstable or poor connection: verify the encoder’s bitrate and CBR setting, run another upload speed test, and reduce the bitrate if the connection cannot sustain it reliably. Test again while monitoring stream health.
  • The incoming resolution or frame rate is unexpected: confirm the source and encoder are set to 1920×1080 progressive at 24 fps. If automatic detection does not give the desired result, use a custom stream key and enable manual Stream Resolution in Live Control Room.
  • The stream is interrupted after a copyright warning: stop and resolve the rights issue. If you have a license, contact the rights holder about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license does not necessarily prevent an automated match on its own.
  • Viewers report missing or incorrect audio: confirm the encoder is sending AAC or MP3 audio, check the selected audio source and levels, and repeat a test with representative sound before restarting the broadcast.
  • The stream looks poor despite matching the settings: the published bitrate numbers are 30 fps references, not guaranteed settings for your 24 fps source. Check the actual encode and stream-health information, then test adjustments rather than assuming a single bitrate will suit every movie.

  • StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free, with no card required.
