Yes—Microsoft lists Visa and Mastercard debit cards as supported for Azure subscriptions in India, so an Indian Mastercard debit card is an eligible card type. That does not guarantee that a particular card or payment will be approved: Azure and the issuing bank may still decline it. Add the card in the Azure portal under Cost Management + Billing, then complete the India-specific OTP verification if prompted. Microsoft’s supported-payment-methods table lists the accepted card networks and excludes virtual and prepaid cards.
This guide is about paying Azure charges for a VM. It does not assume that the VM is being used to stream video to YouTube.
Where to add an Indian debit card in Azure
The exact route depends on your Azure billing agreement and your permissions. Microsoft’s instructions direct customers to Cost Management + Billing, then to the relevant subscription or billing profile and its Payment methods area. See Microsoft’s payment-method instructions.
- Sign in to the Azure portal with an account that has access to the relevant billing information.
- Open Cost Management + Billing.
- Choose the relevant billing scope: the subscription for a Microsoft Online Subscription Program (MOSP) pay-as-you-go account, or the billing profile for a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA).
- Open Payment methods, choose the option to add a payment method, and enter the debit-card details.
- For an Indian payment method, complete the OTP verification Microsoft says is generated when a new method is added.
For a MOSP pay-as-you-go account, the account administrator manages the payment instrument. For an MCA account, you need the appropriate billing permissions. If the portal does not show the payment-method controls, check your billing agreement and ask an administrator with the required access to make the change.

Will an Indian Mastercard debit card work?
It is an eligible card network for Azure subscriptions in India: Microsoft lists both Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards. Network eligibility is not a promise that every individual card will be accepted. The card must pass Azure’s checks and be authorized by its issuing bank. Microsoft’s country table also excludes virtual and prepaid cards, so do not assume that a card described as a debit card qualifies if it is virtual or prepaid.
How Azure charges the card—and what to do if a payment fails
Azure bills cloud usage through the subscription. A saved or default card can be used for billing when the payment method is supported and authorized. India-specific regulatory requirements can affect saved-card and automatic-payment flows; Microsoft describes this context in its bill-payment guidance. The prompt shown for your account and transaction is the practical guide to the options currently available—do not assume a particular recurring-charge threshold applies to every Azure payment.

If the automatic card charge is declined
Open the bill in Azure and look for Pay now. Microsoft documents this one-time payment option where it is available. If offered, try an accepted card and follow the payment prompt. A manual payment option does not itself establish that the same card will succeed on a later automatic charge.
If card payment is unavailable or still fails
For eligible Indian billing accounts, Microsoft documents UPI and NetBanking as one-time payment options; UPI is also documented for MCA accounts. Availability depends on the billing account and bill, so use only the payment methods actually shown in Azure. See Microsoft’s payment options for Azure bills.

- Confirm that you are working in the correct subscription or billing profile.
- Check that your account has the billing role needed to add or manage payment methods.
- Complete the OTP step when adding a new payment method in India.
- If the card is declined, check with its issuer as well as the Azure payment prompt; supported card-network status alone does not establish the reason for a decline.
- If Azure offers a one-time method such as Pay now, UPI, or NetBanking for your bill, follow that option’s prompt rather than assuming it is available for every account.
If you meant a YouTube stream running from an Azure VM
Paying the Azure bill is separate from configuring or operating a YouTube stream. The Azure payment instructions above do not set up a stream, and the billing sources cited here do not establish stream-specific VM settings or costs.
