Check that system’s schedule and timezone first. A YouTube event starting at the wrong time, a playlist changing tracks at the wrong hour, an incorrect date on a scheduled video, and OBS rejecting a start time are different problems with different fixes.
First identify what is changing
Write down the intended date and local time, what actually happened, and the time shown in each relevant interface. Note the timezone configured in YouTube Studio, your encoder or API workflow, and any third-party playout service. Also establish whether the broadcast itself starts or ends at the wrong time, only a playlist item changes at the wrong hour, an event displays an unexpected time, or an encoder refuses to create the broadcast.
A continuous YouTube playlist may involve a scheduled broadcast plus an encoder or hosted scheduler. Those are separate timing layers: YouTube’s documentation covers its broadcast and stream settings, but does not establish that every third-party playlist scheduler uses the same timezone or clock. Check the system that actually triggers the change.
Check the scheduled event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and choose Create → Go live.
- In Live Control Room, locate the intended scheduled stream. Confirm that you selected the correct event and check its date and time in the scheduling flow.
- If you need to correct the schedule, edit the event in YouTube’s stream settings or scheduling flow, then confirm the displayed time again. YouTube says a scheduled stream may appear in subscribers’ feeds as upcoming; see Manage live stream settings.
- If you reused an earlier stream configuration, review auto-start and auto-stop. YouTube says reuse carries over metadata, settings, the stream key, and auto-start/auto-stop choices. An old lifecycle choice can look like a scheduling fault if the symptom is that the stream starts or stops unexpectedly.
Compare timestamps and timezone assumptions
For API-driven broadcasts
If your workflow uses the YouTube Live Streaming API, inspect the broadcast’s scheduled start and end values. The API represents them as ISO 8601 datetimes, such as YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss.sZ. Compare equivalent instants: a UTC timestamp and a local wall-clock time are not necessarily the same displayed hour. The API reference also says that when a scheduled end time is omitted, the broadcast is treated as continuing indefinitely. See LiveBroadcasts.

For a scheduled video upload, not a live event
If the discrepancy is only the date shown on a scheduled video’s watch page, check the upload’s date, time, and timezone in YouTube Studio. YouTube says the watch-page “Published on” date is based on Pacific Standard Time and may differ from Studio when a public video is uploaded or scheduled from a timezone ahead of PST. That guidance concerns scheduled video publishing; it does not mean a live playlist scheduler should be set to Pacific time. See Schedule video publish time.
If OBS rejects the scheduled start time
For the error “Scheduled start time must be in the future and close enough to the current date that a broadcast could be reliably scheduled at that time,” check the computer running OBS before changing unrelated YouTube settings.

- Verify the host computer’s date, clock time, and timezone.
- Synchronize its system clock using the operating system’s time settings.
- Compare the intended future start with the timestamp OBS is sending, taking its timezone or UTC offset into account.
- Try creating the broadcast again after confirming the clock and timestamp agree.
An OBS forum user reported this error after the November 3, 2024 daylight-saving change; a respondent said correcting an incorrectly set system clock resolved a similar case. This is an anecdotal diagnostic lead, not proof that every daylight-saving or scheduling error has the same cause, and the original poster said the displayed clock seemed correct. If only the playlist item changes at the wrong hour
When YouTube’s event time is correct but the content changes at the wrong time, inspect the service that controls the playlist transition. In that scheduler, verify the timezone, date, recurring schedule, daylight-saving setting, and whether the schedule uses wall-clock times or simply plays items consecutively. YouTube cannot correct an independent scheduler’s internal clock; use that service’s own controls or support documentation.

OneStream Live documents a hosted 24/7 workflow for YouTube in its 24/7 live streaming guide, last updated September 3, 2026. The vendor says the feature requires Enterprise, supports scheduling immediately or later, and allows a maximum of 30 days per setup. Check the vendor’s current terms before relying on those limits.
Verify the correction and prevent repeat confusion
- After editing a schedule, check the event time in the system that owns it; for API workflows, also verify the scheduled timestamp and its offset.
- Keep one documented reference timezone for your schedule and record how recurring events handle daylight-saving transitions.
- Tell viewers when the live schedule changes. YouTube recommends communicating schedules and changes to fans and using scheduling or reuse-settings tools to help automate live streams; see Upload schedule tips – Live.

No. YouTube’s Pacific Standard Time explanation is specifically about the watch-page publication date for scheduled video uploads, not a universal rule for live-stream schedules.
What details should I give support if the schedule still changes at the wrong time?
Provide the expected and actual date and time, the timezone shown in each relevant tool, which system owns the schedule, and the encoder or playout service involved.
