YouTube does not document a built-in feature that automatically switches the content playing in an ongoing 24/7 live stream by season. To do that, use an encoder or hosted playout service to send the live feed, and schedule the seasonal rotation in that tool. You can separately create YouTube playlists to organize videos for viewers.
Choose how the continuous stream will run
A 24/7 channel is a live broadcast sent continuously to YouTube, not simply a YouTube playlist that repeats on its own. The videos and their order must be supplied by a playout system.
Run an encoder yourself
Software or hardware encoders send a prepared program to YouTube. YouTube describes encoder streaming as useful for productions involving overlays, gameplay, or audio equipment; a dedicated hardware encoder is an option for higher-production events, not a universal requirement. With this approach, you control the media and rotation, but your encoder and internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue.
Use hosted playout
A hosted service can play uploaded or stored videos without relying on a computer at home. Check that the service supports your specific seasonal calendar, including the timing and behavior of playlist changes; the label “24/7” alone does not establish that it can perform recurring seasonal switches. For example, OneStream Live’s help page says its 24/7 YouTube feature requires an Enterprise plan and has a maximum duration of 30 days. Confirm current terms directly with the provider before relying on that limit or plan.

Check channel eligibility and content rights
Confirm live streaming is available
YouTube’s current live-streaming getting-started guidance says creators must be at least 16, verify the channel, enable live streaming, and have no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. Allow time for enablement before announcing a launch. YouTube also says a creator with a current live-stream restriction cannot evade it by streaming through another channel; see its live-streaming restrictions guidance.
Clear every item in the rotation
Before uploading a seasonal library, verify that you have the rights to broadcast every video and every music track worldwide. YouTube’s Terms of Service place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content, including relevant music rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other rights participants. A video or song being publicly accessible does not mean it is cleared for rebroadcast. Also follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and other applicable platform rules.
Create the live destination in YouTube Studio

In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live to open Live Control Room. Create a stream or reuse suitable settings. The encoder setup steps are described in YouTube’s encoder-streaming guide.

Set the title, description, privacy, audience designation, and other stream details. Schedule the broadcast if you want viewers to find an upcoming stream and opt into a notification. Check the current stream settings for available options.

Copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s destination settings. Treat the key like a password: it authorizes the encoder to send a feed to your YouTube stream. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace the value in the encoder.

Start the encoder and wait for YouTube to receive the signal. Preview the feed in Live Control Room and confirm it is the intended video and audio before starting the public broadcast.
Build a seasonal schedule that controls the live playout
Separate viewer playlists from the live feed
YouTube playlists help viewers browse channel videos. You can create playlists, choose visibility, and manually reorder items using the controls in YouTube’s playlist management guide and YouTube Studio playlist guidance. Those controls do not document an automatic seasonal switch in the media playing inside an active livestream.
Scheduled publishing is also distinct: it sets when an individual uploaded video becomes public, not which item an encoder plays next. See YouTube’s scheduled publishing guidance.

In your encoder or hosted playout service, create named seasonal blocks such as “Winter,” “Spring,” or “Holiday.” For each block, specify the content order and how the list behaves when it reaches the end. Then document the changeover date, exact time and time zone, fallback item if a video fails, and the person responsible for making or verifying the change. These settings belong in the playout tool; YouTube’s documented playlist controls are manual viewer-facing organization.
Before publishing the calendar, check that the chosen service can perform the switch the way you need: at a particular time, without an unintended gap, and with the intended repeat or shuffle behavior. Do not assume those capabilities from a provider’s general 24/7 description.

Test the stream and plan for interruptions
Allow setup time and check bandwidth
For an encoder event, YouTube recommends preparing at least two hours in advance and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. These are preparation recommendations, not a guarantee of continuous uptime. YouTube’s streaming tips advise leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate; when planning a backup encoder, account for the primary stream plus backup plus that headroom.

Test the full media rotation, including transitions between seasonal blocks and the fallback item.

Preview in Live Control Room, then check that the public watch page opens and plays on mobile as well as desktop.

Monitor audio and video for the whole test. Confirm levels, synchronization, and that the intended content is playing.

If you use a backup encoder, test failover by stopping the primary or disconnecting its network, and confirm the backup can take over as expected.

Check that local recordings or source files are intact if you depend on them for recovery.

Know what happens to archives
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived when ended. Do not assume one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will produce a single archive covering the entire run; plan separate recordings or shorter broadcasts if a complete archive matters.
Share a scheduled stream in advance where useful, and organize live archives and highlight clips into viewer-facing playlists. YouTube’s live-stream promotion guidance explains ways to promote an upcoming broadcast.

YouTube does not receive the encoder feed

Likely causes: the stream URL or key was copied incorrectly, the key was reset, or the encoder is not sending.

Fix: compare the encoder destination with the current values in Live Control Room, replace any changed key, and confirm the encoder is running. Never publish the key in a screenshot or stream description.

Video stutters or drops

Likely causes: upload bandwidth is insufficient for the total bitrate, or the connection is unstable.

Fix: check actual upload capacity, reduce the outgoing bitrate if necessary, and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. If operating a backup encoder, include its potential traffic in the bandwidth calculation.
The wrong season’s videos keep playing

Likely cause: the YouTube channel playlist was reordered, but the encoder or hosted playout schedule was not changed.

Fix: update the active rotation in the tool that supplies the live feed, check the transition date and time zone, and preview the next items before the changeover.

The live stream stops during an extended run

Likely causes: the encoder or home connection went offline, or the hosted service reached a run-duration limit.

Fix: identify which component ended the feed, verify the service’s current duration terms, and test restart or failover procedures before the next scheduled run. A provider’s maximum session duration may require a planned restart rather than one indefinite session.
