For 4K/2160p at 60 fps on YouTube Live, set OBS video bitrate to 50 Mbps with H.264 or 35 Mbps with AV1 or H.265/HEVC. Those are YouTube’s codec-specific recommendations, not guarantees that every Airtel Xstream Fiber connection can sustain them. Measure and test your own upload connection before relying on 4K60.
Recommended OBS settings for YouTube 4K60
Use the settings below as a starting point for a 4K60 stream. YouTube’s encoder settings page, verified in 2026, gives different video bitrate recommendations depending on the codec. The bitrate figures are for video; audio and other network use add to the total upstream load. YouTube’s encoder settings
| Setting | Recommended value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec | H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 | Use a codec supported by the encoder selected in OBS and accepted for YouTube RTMP/RTMPS ingestion. |
| Video bitrate at 2160p60 | H.264: 50 Mbps AV1 or H.265/HEVC: 35 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s recommendations for 4K60 video, not total connection use. |
| Rate control | CBR | Use constant bitrate for the encoder. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Protocol | RTMPS recommended | RTMPS encrypts the data sent to YouTube’s servers. |
| Frame rate | 60 fps or lower | YouTube supports up to 60 fps. |
| Audio | AAC or MP3; 128 kbps stereo | Audio contributes to the upstream total. |
| SDR color and scan | Rec. 709, 8-bit, progressive | These are YouTube’s SDR color and scan specifications. |
| HDR | H.265/HEVC, 10-bit | Use YouTube’s HDR guidance when the content and encoder are configured for HDR. |
In OBS, open Settings > Output and configure the streaming encoder’s codec, rate control, video bitrate and keyframe interval. Open Settings > Video to check the output resolution and frame rate. Exact encoder labels and available codecs can vary with the encoder and hardware; match the video bitrate to the codec actually selected rather than choosing a figure based on resolution alone.
Is Airtel Xstream Fiber fast enough for 4K60?
There is no single upload speed that applies to every Airtel Xstream Fiber subscriber. Airtel lists multiple plans and availability varies by location. An advertised plan speed or plan name alone cannot establish that your streaming PC can continuously upload 35 or 50 Mbps to YouTube. Check local plan details on Airtel’s broadband plans page, then measure the connection you will stream from.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Airtel’s QoS report for the quarter ending December 2025 lists 30 Mbps offered typical upload and 30 Mbps 90th-percentile measured upload for tariff 398, and 40 Mbps offered typical upload and 43 Mbps 90th-percentile measured upload for tariff 499. These are figures for those tariffs and that reporting period, not a guarantee for an individual home, current plan, Wi-Fi setup or YouTube ingest route. Airtel’s QoS report
Because 4K60 recommendations are video-only, a connection that tests close to the target bitrate leaves little or no margin for audio, household traffic or variation. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate; a peak speed test is not proof that the line can sustain a live stream.

Test your connection before choosing 4K60
- Confirm the exact plan and local availability. Check your Airtel plan’s stated upload provision for your address rather than assuming all Xstream Fiber plans are alike.
- Measure from the streaming computer. Run upload tests at different times. If practical, connect the PC to the router by Ethernet to distinguish Wi-Fi variation from the ISP connection.
- Choose a codec your OBS encoder supports. Set the matching YouTube video bitrate: 50 Mbps for H.264 or 35 Mbps for AV1/H.265 at 4K60.
- Allow headroom. Account for audio and other household network use; do not set bitrate based only on the best single test result.
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal. Use movement and audio similar to the planned stream. Check YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health and OBS for dropped frames before the actual event.
- Scale down if the test is unstable. Lower bitrate, resolution or frame rate until the connection can hold a consistent stream. Stable lower-quality video is preferable to unstable 4K60.
What to do if 4K60 will not hold
Use the test results, not the plan’s headline speed, to decide whether to keep 4K60. If the selected codec’s recommended bitrate is beyond your sustainable upload capacity, try a lower bitrate and/or reduce resolution or frame rate. Test each change with representative content and watch both OBS dropped frames and YouTube stream health.
A wired PC-to-router connection is an optional troubleshooting step when Wi-Fi is variable. It can remove one source of local-link instability, but it cannot add upstream capacity that the Airtel connection does not provide. Airtel describes router provision for its plans, while YouTube’s guidance emphasizes testing available upload capacity.
