To show YouTube Super Chats as on-screen alerts during an OBS-powered loop stream, first confirm that your channel and the specific live stream are eligible, enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio, then connect a supported alert integration and add its current widget to your OBS scene. YouTube documents Streamlabs for linking a channel and setting up widgets and alerts; its published instructions do not specify the current widget URL or exact OBS source fields, so use the current instructions inside the alert service rather than guessing those values.
Check that Super Chat is available
Confirm channel eligibility
Super Chat is a YouTube fan-funding feature for eligible live streams and Premieres. YouTube requires creators to meet its fan-funding requirements, live in a location where the feature is available, and accept and comply with applicable terms and policies. Check the Earn area in YouTube Studio to see whether Supers are available for your channel. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility, availability, and policies
Check the particular stream
Even if the channel is eligible, Super Chat is unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. Turning off live chat or comments also disables Super Chat. A looping video is not, by itself, evidence that the stream is eligible or ineligible: YouTube’s published rules make eligibility depend on the channel and stream settings, and do not state a special rule for loop streams.
Enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio
Before configuring an alert overlay, confirm that the fan-funding feature is enabled for your channel in YouTube Studio. If Super Chat is not available in the Earn area, an external alert widget cannot make the stream eligible. YouTube’s overview of monetizing a live stream covers the live-stream monetization context.

Connect an alert integration and add it to OBS
Use YouTube’s documented Streamlabs route
- Open Streamlabs and choose its Google Sign-In flow.
- Follow the prompts to link the YouTube channel that will host the loop stream.
- In Streamlabs, set up the relevant widgets and alerts using its current interface and instructions.
- Use the current widget instructions and URL supplied by the connected alert service, then add that widget to the OBS scene used for the stream.
YouTube documents the channel-linking and widget setup outline for Streamlabs, but its guidance does not establish today’s exact Streamlabs menu labels, widget URL, or OBS Browser Source values. Verify those details in Streamlabs’ current interface instead of copying an unverified URL or setting. YouTube also cautions that third-party tools are not made or endorsed by Google and have their own terms. Use the provider’s documented sign-in flow; do not share your Google password with a service. You can remove a third-party app’s access to your Google Account. YouTube’s guide to third-party integrations with Super Chat and channel memberships
Know which integrations do what
YouTube specifically documents Streamlabs for Super Chat widgets and alerts. It lists StreamElements for recognizing channel members with overlays and live alerts, and IFTTT for Super Chat-triggered interactions; those mentions do not establish that either one provides an OBS on-screen Super Chat alert. YouTube also describes its Live Chat API for external tools that read or moderate chat and display Super Chats. A custom API integration is a separate technical route, not a ready-made overlay setup. Test chat and the overlay separately
A Super Chat appears in YouTube’s live chat feed; the alert widget is a separate on-stream display. If the alert service offers a current test function, use it to check the overlay without assuming it represents a real Super Chat purchase. Then verify the actual live stream’s chat and OBS display separately. YouTube’s cited guidance does not describe a test-purchase procedure. Viewers send Super Chats through YouTube live chat, which appears on watch pages rather than embedded players. YouTube’s overview of live chat and live streams
Troubleshoot missing alerts
- Super Chat is absent from YouTube chat: Recheck channel availability in YouTube Studio’s Earn area, stream visibility and age restrictions, Made for Kids status, fundraiser status, and whether live chat or comments are enabled.
- Super Chat appears in chat but not OBS: Check that the OBS scene used for the live stream contains the alert widget, and confirm that its URL and configuration are current in the connected alert service.
- The widget is present but does not respond: Confirm the correct YouTube channel is linked through the provider’s Google Sign-In flow, then use the provider’s current troubleshooting guidance. The exact failure indicators and OBS source fields depend on that provider and are not specified in YouTube’s published setup outline.
- A different integration is being considered: Verify that its current documentation explicitly supports YouTube Super Chat alerts in OBS. A general mention of live alerts, channel memberships, or chat interactions is not proof of that specific capability.
What creators receive from Super Chat
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, after deductions for local sales tax and iOS App Store fees. The published page does not state a year for this figure. YouTube’s guide to managing Super Chat and Super Stickers
