To add a donation ticker in Streamlabs, use the Tip Ticker widget: add it directly as a source in Streamlabs Desktop, or copy its widget URL into a Browser Source in OBS Studio or another broadcasting app. Then customize the message and appearance in Streamlabs and check the result in your scene preview.
Choose the setup path for your broadcasting software
| Setup path | Where you add the ticker | Where you change its settings | Copy a widget URL? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Streamlabs Desktop | Add a Tip Ticker source in the Sources panel. | In the widget settings; Streamlabs says similar settings can also be edited in its dashboard. | No. |
| OBS Studio, XSplit, or another app | Add a Browser Source or equivalent in your broadcasting software. | In the Streamlabs web dashboard. | Yes. Copy the URL from Tip Ticker settings. |
Streamlabs describes the feature as a way to “Display your recent tippers with a scrolling ticker.” If you call it a donation ticker, look for Tip Ticker in Streamlabs’ interface.
Add the Tip Ticker in Streamlabs Desktop
- Open Streamlabs Desktop and find the Sources panel.
- Select +, choose Tip Ticker from the widgets, and name the source.
- Select Add Source.
- Review the settings and preview. Adjust the message and appearance as needed. Streamlabs says similar settings are also available through its dashboard.
- Close the settings to save, then resize and position the ticker on the canvas. Check it in the preview before going live.
Add the ticker to OBS Studio or another broadcasting app
- Open Tip Ticker settings in the Streamlabs dashboard and copy the widget URL shown there. Treat this URL as private account-linked configuration: do not display it on stream or share a real account’s URL.
- In OBS Studio, add a Browser Source. In another application, use its equivalent browser-based source.
- Paste the Streamlabs widget URL into the source’s URL field.
- Set the source width and height, then resize and position it in the scene.
- For later changes to ticker text or styling, return to the Streamlabs web dashboard. The general Streamlabs widget-URL guidance also describes adjusting width, height, and FPS in the broadcasting software if needed.
Customize the ticker for your stream
Choose what the ticker says
Set the message format using {name} for the tipper’s name and {amount} for the tip amount. Choose a maximum number of tips to display at once; Streamlabs’ guide says this value must be greater than zero.
Set scrolling and typography
Choose whether the ticker scrolls and, if it does, set its speed from 1 (slowest) to 10 (fastest). The documented text controls include font, font size, font weight, general text color, name color, and amount color.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Make it legible in the scene
- Allow enough width for a longer-than-average name and amount; otherwise the ticker may feel cramped.
- Choose a font size that remains readable at your stream’s output resolution.
- Check the text against the actual background and overlay elements in your preview, not just against the settings screen.
- Verify that the speed and number of visible tips suit the available space.
These are practical layout checks, not a guarantee of how the widget will appear in every account or scene. Confirm the result in your own preview.
Use a theme or custom styling
Streamlabs offers prebuilt widget themes and allows optional custom HTML/CSS for more advanced styling. Streamlabs’ Widget Themes guidance says a theme’s widget URLs can be used as a manually added Browser Source even when that theme is not active. To use a theme as a Streamlabs Desktop source or with the Streamlabs for OBS Plugin, the theme must be active.

Fix common setup problems
- The ticker does not appear in the scene: In Streamlabs Desktop, confirm the Tip Ticker source was added and is visible in the scene. In OBS or another app, check that you pasted the widget URL into the correct Browser Source and that the source is enabled.
- The ticker is clipped or too small: Adjust the Browser Source width and height in your broadcasting app, then resize and reposition it on the canvas. Check the preview at your stream’s output size.
- Text is difficult to read: Review font size, weight, and colors in the ticker settings. Check contrast against the actual scene background.
- Names or amounts do not appear as intended: Recheck the message format and its
{name}and{amount}placeholders. - Scrolling feels too fast or slow: Change scrolling speed in the widget settings; the documented scale runs from 1 to 10.
- You changed a setting but do not see it in the scene: For a browser-source setup, make the ticker-setting change in the Streamlabs dashboard, then inspect the broadcasting app’s preview again.
Or let it run in the cloud
Streamlabs’ Tip Ticker is an on-screen widget, while StreamNeo is a separate service for keeping a pre-recorded YouTube stream running 24/7; it does not add a donation ticker. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; if YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically attempts recovery. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free day.
