Hunter is the next announced skill for RuneScape: Dragonwilds, while official mod support is targeted for the first half of 2027. Jagex says modding will include dedicated creation tools and an in-game browser and installer on all platforms, but it has not announced an exact release date or explained which kinds of mods will be supported.
When is Hunter coming to RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
Jagex announced Hunter as the next skill, planned for 2027. It will be the first of several new skills the studio says are planned for next year. The announcement gives no specific release date.
The described gameplay centers on sneaking, trapping and collecting creatures. Creatures mentioned in the Song of Rebellion context include Implings, new kebbit variations, grizzly bears and birds; Jagex has also teased elven equipment. These are announced themes and examples, not a complete list of Hunter content. Jagex’s October 3, 2026 Summit announcement has the latest details.
Will Dragonwilds have official mod support?
Yes. Jagex says official modding is planned for all platforms, with two announced components:

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Creation tools: dedicated tools for making mods.
- In-game access: a mod browser and installer.
The target is the first half of 2027, alongside the Song of Rebellion chapter, Secure Servers and Leaderboards. That is a roadmap window, not a guaranteed delivery date. The announcement does not specify supported mod types, the moderation process, or how features may differ between platforms.
What else is on the Dragonwilds roadmap?
Luminance: planned for December 2026
Jagex describes Luminance as a free update and a prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga. Announced features include a Lyre, Songstones, Fairy Rings, character customization, new weapons and armor, a Prifddinas-inspired building kit, and Prayer. Jagex says it will share more about Prayer closer to release; the December timing remains a plan rather than a confirmed launch day. The Summit post is the source for this announced content.

The announcement positions Song of Rebellion in the first-half 2027 roadmap window with modding, Secure Servers and Leaderboards.

Treat the dates as targets. Earlier plans have changed: the December 2025 roadmap described major updates as quarterly and announced Farming with Fellhollow. In May 2026, Jagex revised the Kuldra’s Saga schedule, moving Agility forward to July, Prayer to the winter update, and Scorned Wilderness to September. Scorned Wilderness then arrived with the console launch in September. These changes do not establish that the new targets will move, but they are a reason not to treat a roadmap window as a firm date.

For the current Hunter and modding plans, Jagex’s October 3, 2026 Summit announcement is newer than its earlier roadmap posts. The game launched on September 15, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S with cross-play, according to Jagex’s launch announcement. Its reference to mod support on “all platforms” therefore signals broad platform intent, but does not provide technical details about cross-platform mod parity.
