In Streamlabs, open Alert Box settings, choose an event, and edit its Sound. If you use OBS, also check the alert source’s audio routing if the sound does not reach your stream.
Change an alert sound in Streamlabs
Streamlabs lets you edit alerts from its dashboard or Streamlabs Desktop. The exact layout may shift, but look for the Alert Box settings, the event you want to change, and its Sound control.
From the Streamlabs dashboard
- Open your Streamlabs dashboard and go to Alert Box settings.
- Select the event type you want to customize, such as a follow, subscription, or donation.
- Scroll to Sound and use the change control to pick a sound from the gallery, upload an audio file you have the right to use, or provide an audio URL.
- Select the sound and save your settings before leaving the page.
- Repeat for any other event types. Each event can have its own sound; changing one does not necessarily change the others.

From Streamlabs Desktop
- Find and edit the Alert Box source in Streamlabs Desktop.
- Choose the event whose sound you want to change.
- Select a gallery sound or upload an audio file you have the right to use.
- Save the change with Done, then test the alert.
Streamlabs’ guide covers both the dashboard and Desktop workflows. If a button or menu has moved, use the event-specific Sound setting as your landmark.

Choose a sound you can use
Streamlabs documents three routes: a sound from its gallery, an uploaded audio file, or an audio URL. Its gallery includes free and premium sounds; Streamlabs associates premium sounds with Streamlabs Ultra, but current availability and subscription terms can change. See the Streamlabs alert-sounds page for its gallery information.
For a custom clip, use audio you have the rights to use. The fact that a clip is easy to find online does not establish that you may use it in a livestream.

Set up an alert in StreamElements
If your alerts are managed through StreamElements instead, use its alert editor to select the sound file for the relevant alert. The Elements Editor guide describes creating and editing alerts; the default Alert Box guide covers sound and other alert customizations. Save the change and trigger a test alert to check the result.
Test the sound in OBS
Picking a sound in the alert editor and routing that sound through OBS are separate steps. After saving, trigger a test alert and confirm both that its animation appears and that its audio is audible in the stream mix.

If the alert appears but is silent, check the source’s audio settings. For a StreamElements browser source, its support guidance says to enable “Control audio via OBS” and, when you need to hear the alert, set the alert track to “Monitor and Output.” The exact labels are vendor-specific and may change; see StreamElements’ OBS alert-audio troubleshooting. Streamlabs also identifies source or track configuration as a possible cause of missing alert audio.
