YouTube Studio can schedule a live event, but its documented workflow does not provide a UTC-specific control or a recurring 24/7 playlist scheduler. Use UTC to coordinate the start time, then schedule the event in Studio using its displayed time; an encoder or external service must handle continuous prerecorded playback. Verify any provider’s UTC, recurrence, recovery, and archive features before relying on them.
What YouTube Studio scheduling does—and does not—do
YouTube documents scheduling an individual live stream and connecting an encoder. The reviewed instructions do not document a recurring playlist scheduler or a UTC time-zone setting in Studio. A scheduled event is not itself a continuously playing playlist: the documented workflow still requires the encoder feed to start and the event to be launched.

Coordinate the schedule in UTC
UTC is useful as a shared reference point for a team working across time zones. It is a coordination convention here, not a verified YouTube Studio scheduling feature.

- Choose one UTC date and start time. Write the instant in an unambiguous format with a date and a trailing
Z, such as2026-10-03T20:00Z. - Convert it for anyone entering or checking the event locally. Use a time-zone-aware calendar or converter. Do not rely on a fixed UTC offset in places that observe daylight saving time; their offset can change during the year.
- Keep the UTC value as the team’s reference. Share the date and UTC time alongside the local display time, so collaborators can distinguish the intended instant from a time-zone conversion.
- Confirm the time shown in Studio before saving. The reviewed YouTube instructions do not establish a distinct UTC input or timezone selector. Treat the Studio display as the value to check, rather than assuming that typing a UTC time changes the interface’s time zone.
Schedule and launch the YouTube live event
- In YouTube Studio, choose Create > Go Live to open Live Control Room.
- Open Manage, select Schedule Stream, and create a stream or reuse settings from an earlier one.
- Enter the event details and schedule it. YouTube says scheduled streams may appear as upcoming, where viewers can opt into reminders.
- In your encoder, enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. Treat the key as a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Start the encoder and wait for its preview in Live Control Room. Check the feed, then click Go live to launch the event.
These are YouTube’s documented event and encoder steps, not instructions for configuring a recurring playlist. If you need prerecorded videos to play continuously, confirm that your chosen encoder or service actually supports that behavior and how it handles scheduled starts.
Check channel readiness and prepare for failures
YouTube says a channel needs verification and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to live stream. Its documented stream types include mobile, webcam, and encoder; an encoder is the route for sending an externally produced feed. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.

For encoder events, YouTube’s streaming tips recommend preparing the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. They also advise checking the Live Control Room preview, testing backup-encoder failover, verifying local archive files, checking that the event is reachable from channel and watch pages and on mobile, and monitoring audio and video quality.
Those preparations are useful for an event, but they do not guarantee uptime for an unattended 24/7 broadcast. Before choosing an external service, check whether it provides continuous playback, UTC and daylight-saving handling, restart and network-failure recovery, monitoring or alerts, stream-key security, and a clear explanation of archive behavior.

Understand the archive limit for a 24-hour stream
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a single stream running continuously for 24 hours will produce one complete archived replay: the cited instructions do not define how a third-party 24/7 service divides or archives its output. Ask the provider how it handles long broadcasts and verify the resulting archives in your channel.
