You can schedule OBS to show different prepared videos or scenes at specific times using Advanced Scene Switcher’s Macro Schedule feature. That changes what viewers see in the live stream; it does not edit the order or contents of a playlist on your YouTube channel. For channel-playlist changes, use YouTube Studio.
First, decide which kind of playlist you mean

A viewer on the OBS Project Forums described wanting video 1 to start at 13:00, video 2 later, and a waiting screen between them. That is a request to schedule the live output, rather than to change a public channel playlist.
What you need before setting up a schedule
- OBS Studio: Scenes and sources are the components that make up the stream output. Create the content and transitions you want viewers to see before configuring the schedule. See the OBS overview guide.
- Advanced Scene Switcher: The plugin uses macros—conditions paired with actions—to automate OBS. Its official OBS Project Forums resource currently lists version 1.36.1, OBS Studio 31.1.1 as the minimum, and Windows, macOS, and Linux support. Versions and compatibility requirements can change, so confirm the current listing before installing: Advanced Scene Switcher resource.
- Prepared content: Decide which scene or media-source action should occur at each scheduled time. The right action depends on how your OBS project is built.
Prepare OBS scenes or media sources
- In OBS, create a scene for each distinct stream layout or content block you want to show. Add and arrange the relevant sources—such as your prepared media and any waiting screen—inside those scenes.
- Decide how each scheduled block should begin and end. For example, one time slot might switch to a scene containing a video, while a later slot switches to another prepared scene. If you use media sources directly, identify the source action your setup needs.
- Preview the scenes and media in OBS before relying on a schedule. Confirm that the intended content is visible and that transitions behave as you expect.
Schedule the OBS actions with Advanced Scene Switcher
Advanced Scene Switcher’s project added a Macro Schedule tab in version 1.34.0 to make it easier to schedule macro actions for a date and time. The project describes macros as conditions under which a list of actions is performed. The official sources establish the scheduling capability, but do not verify exact current field names or a universal click-by-click configuration; those details may vary with plugin versions and the actions your project requires.
- Install a version of Advanced Scene Switcher compatible with your OBS version, using the plugin’s official resource page to check current requirements.
- Open Advanced Scene Switcher in OBS and use its Macro Schedule capability to arrange macro actions for the dates and times you intend.
- Set each scheduled macro to trigger the appropriate action for your prepared OBS output—for example, a scene change or a media/source action. Choose the action that matches your project rather than assuming one configuration works for every setup.
- Review the schedule against your intended times and dates, then test it in your own OBS setup. Do not rely on an unattended stream until you have confirmed that the scheduled actions produce the expected output.
The feature is an OBS automation workflow. It does not establish that Advanced Scene Switcher can change playlist membership, order, or details in YouTube Studio.

If you meant a YouTube channel playlist
Use YouTube Studio’s playlist workflow to add videos and manually reorder them. Follow YouTube Help’s instructions for creating and managing playlists. The cited instructions document manual playlist management, not a clock-based schedule controlled by OBS.
Common problems and checks
- The schedule does not trigger: Confirm that your installed plugin version supports your OBS version and that you have configured the intended date and time in Macro Schedule. Check the current plugin resource and release history if labels or compatibility differ.
- The wrong content appears: Check that the scheduled action targets the scene or media source you prepared, and preview that OBS output directly.
- You expected the public playlist to change: OBS schedules changes to its live output. Use YouTube Studio to manage the channel playlist.
- You plan to leave the stream unattended: Test the scheduled behavior in your own setup first. The feature documentation confirms scheduling capability, not guaranteed operation for every macro, scene, or project.
