Restream can start a scheduled pre-recorded YouTube event automatically, so your computer does not have to stay on during the broadcast. You still need to upload the video, set up the event, choose YouTube, and schedule it in advance. Repeating a single video is limited: Restream’s help documentation describes up to 10 loops and a maximum event length of 40 hours.
How to schedule a pre-recorded YouTube stream in Restream
- Enable YouTube live streaming. If the channel has never streamed before, Restream says to verify it by phone and allow 24 hours before the first stream. Connect the channel to Restream; its YouTube guidance says the connected account should be the channel owner. See Restream’s YouTube channel guidance.
- Upload or import the video. Restream supports uploads from desktop or mobile, as well as imports from Google Drive and Dropbox. The device is needed for setup, not to keep the broadcast running. See Restream’s Upload & Stream guide.
- Create a pre-recorded event. In Restream, create a prerecorded livestream, select your video, enter event details and a scheduled time, enable YouTube as a destination, and create the event. Restream says the scheduled event starts automatically, including when you are offline. See the scheduling guide.
- Set repetitions if needed. When setting up the video event, choose a loop count. Restream documents up to 10 repetitions in one event; the looped event can run for at most 40 hours. Looping is a paid feature, available with the Marathon and Media add-on plans according to its documentation. Check the current plan page for availability and limits: schedule a pre-recorded video and loop a pre-recorded stream.
The key distinction is setup versus airtime: a phone or computer can upload and configure the event, but Restream’s scheduled cloud workflow does not require that device to remain connected once the event is ready.
Prepare a compatible video file
Restream’s stated upload requirements are specific. Its guide lists accepted containers and required media settings; these are vendor requirements, not independent upload-test results.

What the loop limits mean for a long broadcast
Repeating one video
Restream documents a maximum of 10 repetitions and a 40-hour maximum for a looped event. That supports a finite scheduled event, not an indefinite 24/7 channel. Looping requires a paid add-on plan; Restream’s scheduling guide names Marathon and Media. Plan names and entitlements can change, so confirm current availability on Restream’s scheduling page.
Repeating a playlist
Restream says playlist looping is not supported as a one-click feature. Its documented workaround is to duplicate videos in the playlist, up to 40 entries. That is still a finite playlist, not proof of an endless broadcast. See Restream’s loop guide.

Video library, resolution, and plan details
Restream’s scheduling page lists Premier, Marathon, and Media tiers with different video-library and resolution limits. These limits and plan details are subject to change; consult the current page rather than relying on an old storage allowance or tier comparison. Restream also says free users’ event thumbnails include Restream branding. Its event guide says Restream Events are available on all plans. See the scheduling guide and the YouTube event guide.
YouTube and content checks before scheduling
- Confirm live streaming is enabled on the YouTube channel and the correct channel-owner account is connected. For a first stream, Restream’s 2024 guidance says phone verification is followed by a 24-hour wait.
- Check that you have the rights needed to broadcast the video, including its music, gameplay footage, and other included material. A scheduled prerecorded event does not remove YouTube’s copyright rules.
- Make sure the finished video is suitable to present as a livestream and complies with YouTube’s policies. Repeating content does not by itself establish that a channel meets YouTube’s monetization or reused-content requirements.
- Review the event’s title, description, thumbnail, destination, and scheduled time before creating it. Do not assume the computer or phone used for setup must remain online.

Troubleshooting a scheduled Restream event
- The event will not schedule to YouTube: verify that live streaming is enabled, the channel is connected under the owner’s account, and any first-time verification wait has passed.
- The video upload or processing fails: check the container, H.264 video, AAC audio, and keyframe interval of 2 against Restream’s file requirements.
- The video does not repeat as expected: check the loop count and plan eligibility. The documented limit is 10 repetitions per event, with a maximum 40-hour looped event.
- A playlist stops instead of repeating: Restream does not document automatic playlist looping. Its workaround is to duplicate entries, up to 40 playlist items; this remains finite.
- The thumbnail carries Restream branding: Restream says free users’ event thumbnails include its branding; review current plan information if that matters to your presentation.
