To send a Zoom meeting to YouTube alone, enable meeting livestreaming and YouTube in the Zoom web portal, then start the stream from the meeting controls as host. To broadcast the same meeting to YouTube and other services at once, use Zoom’s Live Streaming app: it supports up to three simultaneous destinations, and the host must start the streams.
Choose the right Zoom streaming route
| Route | Destinations | What you need to set up |
|---|---|---|
| Zoom meeting livestreaming setting | YouTube, when enabled for the account | An account owner or administrator may need to enable livestreaming and select YouTube in the Zoom web portal. |
| Zoom Live Streaming app | Up to three services simultaneously, including YouTube; built-in connections are available for YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch. Other services can use custom RTMP. | Connect channels in advance, or enter the receiving service’s RTMP URL, stream key, and viewing-page URL for a custom destination. |
For YouTube by itself, the meeting livestreaming setting is the simpler route if it is available in your account. For YouTube plus other destinations at the same time, the Live Streaming app is the documented option. Zoom feature availability and labels can vary or change, so check the current settings and Zoom support pages for your account.
Enable YouTube livestreaming in Zoom
- Open the Zoom web portal. Sign in with the account that will host the meeting.
- Open Meeting settings. Find “Allow livestreaming of meetings” and enable it. Select YouTube among the allowed services.
- Ask an administrator if the setting is unavailable. Account owners or administrators control account-wide availability; a locked setting may require an administrator to change it.
- Check the meeting controls before the event. If YouTube is enabled and available, use the YouTube destination in the meeting’s livestream controls when you are host.
Zoom’s documentation establishes the Zoom-side setting, not the current YouTube channel eligibility rules or YouTube Studio navigation. Verify those requirements in YouTube’s official help and in your channel before scheduling a broadcast.
Multistream with Zoom’s Live Streaming app
Connect destinations before the meeting
- Install or open the Zoom Live Streaming app using the current Zoom app workflow for your account.
- Connect supported channels in advance. The app supports channel connections for YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch. Doing this before the meeting helps avoid setup delays when the event is underway.
- Add another platform as custom RTMP if needed. In that platform’s live-stream setup, obtain its RTMP URL, stream key, and public viewing-page URL. Enter those exact values in the corresponding Zoom fields. Do not guess or reuse credentials.
- Keep the destination count within the app’s limit. Zoom documents up to three simultaneous streaming services through the app.
Start the streams during the meeting
- Start the Zoom meeting as its host.
- Open the Live Streaming app and select the destinations configured for the event.
- Have the host initiate the streams. Participants may open the app, but Zoom says only the host can start streams for the current meeting.
- Check each destination’s viewing page to confirm the expected stream appears. Use the viewing-page URL supplied by a custom RTMP destination where applicable.
Understand the moderation limitation
Zoom says the app’s moderation functionality is supported for YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch, but not for other custom RTMP platforms. If you add a custom destination, plan to handle its moderation through that service’s own tools.

Before you go live
- Confirm that YouTube is enabled in Zoom’s meeting livestreaming settings, or connected in the Live Streaming app.
- Authenticate and configure every destination before the meeting begins.
- For custom RTMP, verify the endpoint, stream key, and viewing-page URL directly with the receiving platform.
- Confirm who will host the Zoom meeting and initiate the streams.
- Check YouTube’s current channel eligibility and live-stream requirements in official YouTube help; they are not established by Zoom’s setup instructions.
Troubleshooting common setup problems
YouTube does not appear in Zoom
Check whether “Allow livestreaming of meetings” is enabled and YouTube is selected in the Zoom web portal. If the control is locked or missing, ask the account owner or administrator whether livestreaming is available for the account.
The Live Streaming app cannot start the broadcast
Make sure the person starting the stream is the meeting host. Participants can open the app, but the host initiates the streams for that meeting.

A custom RTMP destination does not receive the stream
Recheck the RTMP URL, stream key, and viewing-page URL against the values provided by the destination service. Correct any mismatch there rather than substituting a guessed endpoint or credential.
A custom destination lacks Zoom app moderation
This is a documented limitation: Zoom’s app moderation support covers YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch, not custom RTMP destinations. Use that platform’s own moderation controls.
