Yes—you can run a YouTube radio-style livestream over JioFiber if your connection sustains the stream’s upload bitrate, your channel is eligible for YouTube Live, and you have the rights to broadcast every track. You’ll need a computer or encoder to send an audio program alongside a simple video feed; YouTube does not receive an audio-only live stream through this setup.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-stream restriction in the past 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming activation guidance.
- A computer or encoder that can play or mix your radio audio and send a video feed to YouTube Live.
- A JioFiber connection whose upload performance is stable at the time and place you plan to broadcast.
- Permission for live transmission of every piece of music, including the relevant territories and any archived replay.
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends testing upload bitrate and checking stream health. Jio’s plan comparison has shown examples of symmetric 30 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and 150 Mbps plans, but those are examples from a dynamic page—not a guarantee of local availability or your actual sustained speed. Confirm your plan and test your own line using Jio’s plan comparison.
Set up the station step by step
1. Enable YouTube Live and create a stream
- Verify your channel and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. First-time activation can take time, so do this before your intended launch.
- Open YouTube Studio, go to the Live Control Room, and create or schedule a stream.
- Copy the server and stream-key details into your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not share it or show it on screen. Reset it if it is exposed.
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming and recommends RTMPS, which protects the connection with SSL. The RTMPS developer documentation lists YouTube’s ingestion address and port 443; most creators can use the server details displayed in Live Control Room rather than constructing an API request. 2. Measure JioFiber upload at broadcast time
- Run an upload-speed test from the room and device that will host the encoder. Repeat it at different times when the station is likely to be live.
- Repeat while the household is using the connection normally. Other uploads, cloud backups, and video calls can consume upload capacity.
- Choose an encoder bitrate that leaves headroom beyond the stream’s combined video and audio bitrate. Do not treat the plan’s advertised speed as proof of sustained capacity.
A wired Ethernet connection from the streaming computer to a compatible router can reduce local Wi-Fi variability. It does not raise the subscribed internet speed or guarantee an uninterrupted ISP connection. Jio’s JioFiber FAQ can help with service questions.

3. Build an audio-led program with a visual feed
Combine your radio audio with a simple image or visualizer: for example, station artwork, the show name, and the current program. This is practical presentation guidance, not a specific YouTube requirement in its encoder documentation. If you have a live presenter, connect and test the microphone separately. Listen to the encoder output or a private test stream, and check that levels are consistent and not clipping.
4. Choose conservative encoder settings
For an audio-first station with a mostly static image, 720p at 30 fps is a reasonable starting point if you want a video feed; lower resolution is an option if bandwidth is limited. YouTube’s current H.264 guidance recommends the following ingestion settings:

These are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not a promise that viewers will receive the same playback quality. For a fixed image, clean, continuous audio matters more to the listener than adding resolution without a practical visual benefit. Refer to YouTube’s encoder settings for its current supported formats and recommendations.
5. Test before promoting the station
- Run a test using representative music, transitions, and visual movement—not just a still screen and silence.
- Check that the encoder is sending audio and video, the audio is audible and unclipped, and the correct artwork is visible.
- Watch the Live Control Room’s stream-health messages while the encoder is running.
- If health or quality is poor, lower the video bitrate or resolution, stop competing uploads, and test again before announcing a schedule.
YouTube recommends realistic pre-stream testing and monitoring stream health while live. A short test is especially useful for finding configuration problems, but it cannot guarantee that a long-running stream or the ISP link will never fail.

Clear music rights before going live
Owning a song, buying a download, or seeing a “free” label does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it continuously on YouTube. YouTube’s livestream terms make the broadcaster responsible for having the necessary rights for worldwide use on Google services, including music licensing and public-performance rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may replace the image, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it.
A license for ordinary on-demand videos may not cover continuous live transmission. Confirm with the rights holder or licensing provider that your permission covers live streaming, the territories you serve, any replay or archive, and Content ID. YouTube’s copyright guidance says that if you have licensed third-party content, you should ask its owner to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist.

Choose stream quality for the program, not the plan name
For a station built around listening, a static or lightly animated visual rarely justifies a high video bitrate. Pick the lowest visual quality that suits the presentation and remains stable on your tested upload connection. Leave capacity for audio and normal household use. Jio’s advertised symmetric upload examples do not establish the speed available at every address or the performance of your specific line.

Diagnose the likely cause
