Use YouTube’s Live Redirect feature: in YouTube Studio, open the source stream’s settings and choose an eligible Premiere or livestream as the destination. The sender must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; if the destination is on another channel, that channel must allow your channel to redirect viewers to it.
Set up a Live Redirect in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, go to Content > Live.
- Open the source livestream and select Edit.
- Choose Customization > Redirect > Add.
- Select a Premiere or search for an eligible livestream. For a stream on another channel, that channel must have granted your channel permission.
- Save the setting. When you end the source stream, YouTube shows a confirmation that viewers will be redirected.
YouTube documents Live Redirect as a handoff when the source livestream ends, not as an immediate switch in the middle of a broadcast. The destination options documented are a Premiere or another channel’s livestream; the instructions do not describe redirecting viewers to an arbitrary URL or another platform. Check eligibility and destination permission
Sender eligibility
YouTube Help states that a channel sending a Live Redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. This is YouTube’s eligibility threshold, not a viewer-count requirement.
Permission from another channel
The recipient channel controls which channels may redirect viewers to its content. Its owner can allow channels it subscribes to, allow all channels, or manually approve particular channels. YouTube says the subscribed-channel option is the default unless subscriptions are private. A manual allowlist can contain up to 100 channels. The all-channels option cannot be combined with the subscribed-channel or manual-list options.

To receive a redirect, a channel does not need to meet the sender’s subscriber threshold: YouTube’s TeamYouTube announcement says channels of any size may receive Live Redirects. TeamYouTube announcement about Live Redirects.
Choose a Premiere or another channel’s livestream

YouTube’s live-stream feature comparison lists Live Redirect as supported for horizontal livestreams and unavailable for vertical live feeds. If you are planning a vertical broadcast, do not assume this redirect option will be available. YouTube Help: Compare features for live streams.

Prepare viewers for the handoff
YouTube describes autoplay moving viewers to the selected Premiere or livestream after the source ends. It is not guaranteed that every viewer will move automatically: viewers who have autoplay turned off may need to press play. Tell viewers where the stream is going and ask them to wait a few seconds after the source ends while the screen reloads.
For a Premiere destination, YouTube recommends setting it up before the livestream. A pinned message in the Premiere’s live chat can also point viewers to the event. YouTube Help: How to use YouTube Live Redirect.

If the destination does not appear or viewers do not switch
- The redirect control or destination is unavailable: Check that the sending channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements and, for another channel’s stream, that the recipient has allowed your channel. Also confirm that the destination is an eligible Premiere or livestream.
- The recipient has not enabled permission: Ask its owner to review the redirect permissions in YouTube Studio and allow your channel through the subscribed-channel, all-channels, or manual-approval setting.
- The broadcast is vertical: YouTube’s comparison table says Live Redirect is unavailable for vertical live feeds; the documented support is for horizontal streams.
- Some viewers remain on the source: Autoplay may be turned off for those viewers. Tell them to click play on the destination and allow a few seconds for the screen to reload.
- The target is not ready: Set up a Premiere in advance, or confirm that the other channel’s livestream is available to select before ending the source stream.
