To embed a YouTube playlist, use an iframe URL with listType=playlist and your playlist ID in list. To start at a particular item in the playlist, use YouTube’s IFrame Player API: its playlist index is zero-based, so the third item is index 2. A timestamp parameter such as start does something different: it seeks within the selected video, not to a playlist item.
Choose the right method
A plain iframe is enough to show a playlist. Use the IFrame Player API if your page must select a specific playlist position, cue the playlist before playback, or provide JavaScript controls.

YouTube’s player parameter reference documents playlist loading and the in-video start parameter. Its IFrame Player API reference documents playlist indexing and programmatic control.
Embed the playlist with an iframe
Get the playlist ID from the playlist’s YouTube URL, then replace PLAYLIST_ID below. YouTube’s documented playlist embed format uses listType=playlist and list; it does not require a video ID in the URL path.

list=. The documented example says to prependPLto the playlist ID. - Paste the iframe into your page. Use the HTML editor or embed block provided by your site platform. Some platforms may require an HTML/embed block rather than a regular text field.
- Check the player dimensions. The embedded player must have a viewport at least 200 × 200 pixels. For a 16:9 player with controls, YouTube recommends at least 480 × 270 pixels.
Start at a specific playlist video with the IFrame Player API
Playlist positions are zero-based: index 0 is the first item, 1 is the second, and 2 is the third. Use loadPlaylist to load and play the list beginning at that index:

Load and play immediately
loadPlaylist loads the playlist and starts playback at the selected item. For example, use index: 2 to begin with the third video.
Queue the playlist without immediately playing
Use cuePlaylist with the same playlist and index options when you want to prepare the list without requesting playback immediately. Call playVideo() when playback should begin.

Change the selected item later
Once a playlist is loaded or cued, call playVideoAt(index) to load and play an item at the specified zero-based position. If you give visitors a selector labelled with ordinary positions such as “Video 1” or “Video 3,” convert those positions to API indices by subtracting one.
Start at a timestamp within the chosen video
Use start in an iframe URL to seek to a number of seconds from the beginning of the currently loaded video. With API playlist loading, startSeconds sets the time offset for the first video selected in the list. Neither parameter chooses which playlist item plays; use the API’s index or playVideoAt(index) for that.

YouTube notes that seeking lands on a nearby keyframe, so playback may begin slightly before the requested second rather than at the exact instant.
Set up JavaScript API control safely
- Set the origin. When enabling JavaScript API control with
enablejsapi=1, YouTube recommends setting theoriginparameter to your website’s domain as an additional security measure. - Make the index convention visible. API indices start at zero. Account for that when deriving the index from a user-facing item number or an array position.
- Choose autoplay deliberately. YouTube documents
autoplay=1as starting the initial video automatically. Its documentation says playback data collection and sharing occur upon page load when autoplay is enabled, so only enable it when that behavior is intended. - Keep the player large enough. The minimum viewport is 200 × 200 pixels; YouTube recommends 480 × 270 pixels or larger for a 16:9 player with controls.
Troubleshooting
The playlist loads, but the wrong video starts
Check that you are using the API and that the index is zero-based. The third item is 2, not 3. The documented iframe parameters do not provide an arbitrary playlist-position setting.

The player starts at the wrong time
Confirm that you are using start or startSeconds for a timestamp within the selected video, not as a playlist index. Also allow for the seek to resolve to a nearby keyframe.
The playlist does not appear
Verify that the playlist ID is correct and is assigned to list alongside listType=playlist. The playlist embed URL does not need a video ID in its path.
JavaScript API control is unreliable
If you enabled enablejsapi=1, set origin to the domain serving the page. Check that your API calls run against the created player instance.
