For most Android users in India, the official YouTube app is the best place to start: it supports creating playlists, choosing privacy settings, reordering videos, and deleting playlists. Use YouTube Studio for creator-focused playlist controls; consider TubeFolder if you need folders and library search, but check its current free-tier limits before relying on it.
Which YouTube playlist app should you choose?

The options do not all manage the same library in the same way. YouTube handles ordinary playlists in your YouTube account; Studio is aimed at creator administration; TubeFolder describes a folder-based organizing layer; and LibreTube is a separate frontend. Check current Google Play or F-Droid availability in India, compatibility, and any purchase or feature limits before installing a third-party option.
Use YouTube for everyday playlist management
YouTube Help documents the Android app workflow for creating playlists, selecting privacy, finding playlists, reordering videos, and deleting a playlist. The core steps are available without installing another playlist manager.
Create a playlist
- Open the YouTube app and find a video you want to save.
- Tap Save. Choose an existing playlist or create a new one.
- If you create a playlist, enter its name and choose its privacy setting. Review that setting before sharing the playlist.
Find and reorder videos
- Open the playlist from your library or the relevant playlist page in YouTube.
- To change the order, drag a video up or down the playlist. YouTube Help describes this workflow as: “To reorder videos: Open the playlist and then Drag a video up or down the playlist.”
Reordering is unavailable when a playlist contains only Shorts.

Delete a playlist
Open the playlist, use its menu, and choose the delete option. Check that you have selected the playlist you intend to remove before confirming.
Use YouTube Studio for creator playlist controls
YouTube Studio for Android is the better fit when you need creator-oriented metadata controls, rather than just saving videos to a personal playlist. Its documented playlist tools include adding or removing videos and editing a playlist’s title, description, privacy, and video order.

- Open the YouTube Studio app and go to the playlist-management area.
- Select the playlist you want to manage.
- Add or remove videos, or edit the title, description, privacy, or order as needed.
- Review the privacy setting and save your changes.

When a third-party playlist manager may help
TubeFolder: folders and search
TubeFolder’s Google Play description advertises hierarchical folders, playlist management, search, filtering, and sharing. That feature set may suit someone whose main problem is keeping many playlists organized. The listing also discloses in-app purchases, and it does not make clear which features are included free. Verify the current Indian listing and the feature limits before treating it as a free solution.

FreeTube: playlist creation and import
The Google Play description for FreeTube says it supports creating playlists and importing playlists from YouTube. That description does not establish a particular set of playlist-editing controls, so check the current app listing if you need a specific operation.
LibreTube: an alternative frontend
F-Droid lists private playlists, playlist bookmarks, and optional Piped sync for LibreTube. The listed version requires Android 8.0 or later. Because it is a separate frontend, do not assume its playlist and account behavior is interchangeable with your official YouTube library. Its F-Droid record also documents fixes in response to YouTube API and playback changes, a reminder that compatibility can change as YouTube changes.

Choose YouTube Music for music playlists
YouTube Music is designed around music. Its official help covers creating and editing music playlists, changing their order and privacy, and collaboration. For general video playlists—including non-music videos—YouTube’s guidance points users to the main YouTube app instead.

- FreeTube and LibreTube have relevant playlist features described in their respective listings, but availability, compatibility, and the precise current feature set can vary.
- Do not assume an alternative frontend manages or syncs your existing official YouTube library in the same way as YouTube itself.
