Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf a YouTube podcast stream starts in sync but the gap between speech and video grows over time, treat it as a timing or clock problem—not as a fixed delay to keep adjusting. First compare OBS’s actual output with YouTube playback, then check audio sample rates, independent device clocks, monitoring, and OBS performance. A steady, unchanging gap is a different fault and may be corrected with a measured fixed offset.
First find where the sync problem occurs
Before changing settings, determine whether the fault is in OBS’s program output, YouTube’s live playback, an OBS monitoring feed, or only an uploaded archive. A monitoring delay does not by itself show that viewers hear the same delay.
- Record a baseline. Make a local OBS recording or otherwise capture its program output, and compare it with the audience-facing YouTube stream. Check near the beginning and again after enough runtime for the reported problem to appear. There is no established standard test duration; make the test long enough to reproduce your stream’s symptom.
- Compare the same moments. Use a visible cue paired with a sound, such as a hand clap in frame, and listen for whether the audio leads or trails. Avoid comparing different scenes or segments where the timing may naturally differ.
- Check the archive separately. If the live stream is synchronized but a later upload or archive is not, compare the original file with YouTube playback and inspect whether the audio and video track durations match. YouTube’s upload advice applies to uploaded videos; it is not a universal live-encoder fix (YouTube upload troubleshooting).
Classify the symptom: fixed offset or progressive drift
| What you hear or see | What it suggests | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| The audio is early or late by about the same amount throughout. | A stable latency or fixed offset. | Measure the offset in the relevant source or output path and apply a fixed sync adjustment there. Recheck the beginning and later playback. |
| The stream begins in sync, then the audio gap steadily grows or changes over time. | Accumulating timing error, potentially involving device clocks, sample rates, or output timing. | Investigate clock and rate alignment and confirm which output is affected. A static offset will not correct an error that keeps accumulating. |
| Only OBS’s local monitor sounds delayed, while the recording or audience-facing output is in sync. | A monitoring-path issue rather than proof of a program-output problem. | Diagnose the monitor path separately; do not compensate the stream based only on what you hear in the monitor. |
| The live stream is fine, but an uploaded video or archive is out of sync. | A file, track-duration, or upload/playback issue. | Compare the source file and YouTube playback and check whether the audio and video durations match. |
There is no universal offset value supported for every setup. Advice for a particular capture device or reported OBS monitoring scenario should not be treated as a setting that fixes all hardware.
Check sample rates in OBS and every audio device
Compare the audio sample-rate setting in OBS with the rate configured for each audio device in your chain. YouTube Live documentation lists 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz as recommended audio sample rates and flags mismatches between primary and backup streams. Those checks are useful configuration guidance, but a mismatch is not proof that every progressive-sync issue has that cause (YouTube Live stream health and configuration).

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Write down the rate used by OBS and by each microphone, capture device, interface, or other audio source.
- Align the settings where your devices and workflow allow it, then repeat the local-output and YouTube comparison.
- If you use primary and backup feeds, check that their sample rates agree.
- Keep this distinct from YouTube’s upload guidance: for uploaded audio, YouTube lists AAC-LC and 44.1 or 48 kHz among its settings, but that is not a live-stream sync remedy.
Look for separate device clocks
Two devices can both be set to the same nominal sample rate and still run from independent clocks that do not stay perfectly aligned. This can matter when audio is assembled from separate USB or capture devices. If your comparisons point to those devices as the source of increasing drift, test a common audio interface or routing path that consolidates the relevant inputs.
That is a setup-dependent option, not a guaranteed fix. Confirm that the symptom follows the separate devices before buying hardware. Any interface must have enough suitable inputs and support the connection and routing your system requires; no particular model is established as the solution.

Make sure you are judging the program output, not just monitoring
Listen to or inspect the actual recording or audience-facing stream, not only OBS’s local audio monitor. An OBS forum discussion describes a scenario in which a monitor follows a device clock while other output remains on OBS’s clock; it is an individual explanation, not official documentation or a universal diagnosis (OBS forum discussion).
If only the monitor is affected, investigate that path rather than adding a delay to the program output. Mute, reroute, or reset workarounds mentioned in a particular monitoring discussion are scenario-specific. Verify the audience-facing result after any change.

Check OBS Stats and network health without conflating them with clock drift
Open OBS’s Stats window while streaming and look for missed or skipped frames and dropped frames. OBS says dropped frames indicate an unstable connection or an inability to sustain the configured bitrate, causing video frames to be dropped (OBS stream connection troubleshooting).
- If OBS reports dropped frames, follow its network troubleshooting guidance and assess whether the connection can sustain the chosen bitrate.
- Changing bitrate or network conditions can address connection-related dropped frames; it does not necessarily correct a clock or sample-rate problem.
- Do not infer an audio-clock fault from dropped frames alone. Keep the network diagnosis and the sync diagnosis separate, then compare the outputs again.
Troubleshooting by where the problem appears
| Problem location | Next check |
|---|---|
| OBS local recording and YouTube both drift | Check the rates and clock relationships of the devices feeding OBS, then test a common interface or routing path if separate clocks are implicated. |
| OBS local recording is in sync; YouTube live playback drifts | Confirm that you are comparing the same moments and inspect YouTube Live stream configuration and health, including audio sample rates and any primary/backup mismatch. |
| Only the OBS monitor drifts | Compare the program recording or audience-facing output. If those are in sync, keep the correction confined to the monitoring path. |
| Only an uploaded video or archive drifts | Inspect the source file, compare it with playback, and check that the audio and video track durations match, following YouTube’s upload troubleshooting guidance. |
| Sync trouble coincides with OBS dropped frames | Investigate the unstable connection or bitrate capacity through OBS’s network troubleshooting steps; treat this as a network indicator, not a clock diagnosis. |
