You can stream an Urdu podcast from a Windows PC by sending an encoder’s audio and video feed to YouTube Live Control Room with a stream URL and key. For a continuous broadcast, use stable settings your internet connection can sustain, monitor the stream, plan for outages, and keep a local recording: YouTube may not archive a stream that exceeds 12 hours. A Windows PC and encoder do not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and eligible for live streaming. YouTube’s guidance says the channel must have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Check access in YouTube Studio before configuring the encoder. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains eligibility and setup.
- A Windows PC running an encoder such as OBS, a reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity, and the Urdu podcast audio or video you intend to broadcast.
- Rights to every element in the program, including music, recorded clips, and other third-party material.
A microphone is optional if you are capturing live speech; YouTube lists microphones and preamps as hardware that can be used with encoder streams. The core setup is the encoder, channel access, and connection.
Set up the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and prepare a live stream. In Live Control Room, create or schedule an encoder stream. YouTube provides a stream URL and stream key for the encoder to send the feed to the correct destination. Keep the key private, as you would a password. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover the workflow.
- Configure your encoder on Windows. In OBS or another encoder, select YouTube as the service if available. Otherwise, enter the server URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. A custom stream key can be reused for recurring streams, but do not reuse or share a key if you suspect it has been exposed.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm that YouTube receives the feed in Live Control Room and that sound is audible and video is visible. Depending on the stream configuration, you may need to start the broadcast in Live Control Room after the encoder feed arrives.
- Go live only after checking the output. Verify the Urdu speech is clear, levels are not clipping, and the picture or still visual looks as intended. For an audio-led podcast, a clean, steady audio feed matters more than choosing a high video resolution.
Choose video and audio settings your connection can sustain
YouTube recommends testing upload capacity and testing with audio and movement similar to the intended broadcast. Its published H.264 examples below are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular PC or ISP will maintain a stream continuously. Use them as starting points and test before relying on the setup. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists these values.

Allow room above the video and audio bitrates for network variation and other household or office traffic. If the stream health drops or audio/video breaks up, lower the video resolution or bitrate first, then test again. Do not select a bitrate solely because it is the highest available option.

Make a continuous broadcast manageable
Test and monitor the feed
Run a test stream with representative speech, music only when properly licensed, and any visual motion you expect to use. Watch the Live Control Room preview and stream health, listen for distorted or missing audio, and monitor the encoder and connection. YouTube’s live tips advise: “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.” YouTube’s live-streaming tips provide further operational guidance.
A continuous stream needs an operator or a monitoring plan. Decide who will notice a dropped encoder, power loss, internet outage, or audio failure and how they will restart the feed. The official guidance does not establish that any specific Windows PC, encoder, power arrangement, or ISP will stay online indefinitely.

Choose between one long broadcast and shorter sessions
A single long broadcast avoids deliberately ending and restarting the live feed, but it makes the YouTube replay less dependable. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a reliable YouTube replay, schedule shorter sessions. If the live broadcast must continue across longer periods, do not treat YouTube’s archive as your only copy. YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance describes the limit.
Keep a local recording
Enable local recording in your encoder if you need a backup or want control of the full program archive. Confirm the recording file is being created and growing during the test, and make sure the PC has enough storage for the intended duration. YouTube also recommends keeping a local archive backup. A local copy protects against a missing platform archive, but it does not by itself keep the live broadcast online during an internet or power interruption.

Clear rights for the Urdu program
Urdu-language speech does not remove copyright obligations. You need the rights to stream and archive the program’s material, including music, poetry recordings, background tracks, clips, and any other third-party content. YouTube scans live streams for third-party material and may interrupt or terminate a stream when it detects a match. If you have licensed material, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams explains the platform’s requirements.
Troubleshoot common interruptions
