Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For a mostly still yoga nidra scene, start with 720p at 30 fps, H.264, CBR, RTMPS, 8 Mbps video, 2-second keyframes, and AAC stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. Use Rec. 709 SDR and Normal latency. YouTube lists 8 Mbps as its recommended H.264 ingestion bitrate for 720p30; treat it as a starting target, then test the actual video, audio, encoder, and upload connection before going live.
A 24/7 broadcast has a separate YouTube archive risk: a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable. If retaining the session matters, record a local copy and plan how to monitor and recover the broadcast.
Recommended encoder settings
These settings are a practical preflight preset for a mostly static yoga nidra video, not a guarantee of stable delivery. YouTube automatically transcodes live input into multiple playback formats, so the encoder settings describe what you send to YouTube, not a fixed playback quality for every viewer.
| Setting | Starting value | How to apply it |
|---|---|---|
| Protocol | RTMPS | Choose the secure RTMP option when configuring the encoder and use the stream URL provided by YouTube. |
| Video codec | H.264 | Use a codec supported reliably by your encoder. YouTube also supports H.265/HEVC and AV1, but its bitrate table varies by codec. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1280×720, progressive, 30 fps | This is a sensible lower-bandwidth starting point for a largely static scene. YouTube lists 14 Mbps as the recommended H.264 bitrate for 1080p30; use higher resolution only when the source detail warrants it and upload capacity is dependable. |
| Video bitrate | 8 Mbps | YouTube’s H.264 table lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for 720p30. Do not assume a still image will look acceptable below the recommendation without testing it. |
| Rate control | CBR | Set constant bitrate rather than a variable-rate mode. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio | AAC stereo, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz | YouTube lists AAC or MP3, recommends 128 kbps stereo, and lists 44.1 kHz for stereo. Check narration, ambient audio, clipping, silence, and loop transitions. |
| Color | Rec. 709, 8-bit SDR | Use the SDR color setting. HDR is unnecessary unless both the source and workflow specifically use HDR. |
| Latency | Normal | Lower latency can increase buffering; it is less important when the creator is not interacting with viewers. |
These are YouTube’s published ingestion recommendations, not results from a test of your particular scene or encoder. YouTube advises testing before starting a live stream; check the image and audio using representative material, including any movement, fades, and loop points. Calculate the upload capacity you need
For an 8 Mbps video stream, plan for at least 9.6 Mbps sustained outbound capacity. That figure is the 8 Mbps target multiplied by 1.2 to provide YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom; it is a calculation, not a separately published YouTube bitrate.
- Run an upload speed test from the actual streaming location. Download speed does not establish that outbound capacity is sufficient.
- Account for other devices and users on the same connection, which can reduce available bandwidth.
- If sending primary and backup streams at the same time, add their bitrates and leave 20% headroom above the total.
- Prefer a stable wired connection where practical, and watch for connectivity interruptions that could break the stream.

Set up and test the broadcast
- Create the event and configure the encoder. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream, and use the stream URL and stream key shown for that event. Enter them in the encoder’s streaming settings and confirm RTMPS is selected. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your channel.
- Enter the preset values. Set H.264, 1280×720 progressive at 30 fps, CBR at 8 Mbps, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Set stereo AAC to 128 kbps at 44.1 kHz, Rec. 709 8-bit SDR, and Normal latency. Encoder labels differ, so verify the resulting values rather than relying on a preset name.
- Send a representative test. Include the real scene, spoken guidance if used, ambient audio, motion, fades, and the transition where the video loops. Check that audio is neither clipped nor silent and that the picture remains stable.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Confirm that the intended video and sound arrive before making the event public. Look for warnings, dropped frames, or an unstable connection, and correct the cause before relying on a long broadcast.
- Verify recording and recovery. Confirm a local recording is growing and has playable audio and video. If using a backup encoder, test failover by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable, then confirm the player rolls over to the backup.
- Arrange ongoing monitoring. A continuous broadcast still needs an operator or monitoring plan that can notice and respond to failures. YouTube’s setup and testing guidance does not guarantee unattended uptime.
YouTube documents both software and standalone hardware encoder options; dedicated hardware is not a universal requirement. Choose based on the needs of your actual looping source, supported codec and RTMPS settings, restart and failover behavior, local recording controls, sustained bandwidth, and the oversight you can provide. YouTube’s encoder guidance also names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streams of prerecorded videos; that is not an endorsement or an uptime guarantee. YouTube Help: Go live with an encoder.
Plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive and DVR caveats
Do not assume a single 24-hour event will create a complete YouTube recording or retain full rewind. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. These are archive and playback caveats; they do not establish that a live broadcast will stop at 12 hours.

Protect the channel and the meditation content
Before broadcasting, make sure you have the rights to every video, music track, soundscape, and other material in the stream. A live format does not make copyrighted material safe to reuse. YouTube’s copyright and monetization decisions are separate from whether the encoder settings are technically correct; check the current YouTube copyright guidance and YouTube channel monetization policies for the rules applicable to your channel and content.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or change |
|---|---|---|
| Stream health reports instability or the stream drops | Insufficient or fluctuating outbound capacity, competing network use, or an encoder/network interruption | Test upload from the streaming location, preserve 20% headroom above the total bitrate, reduce competing traffic, and inspect the encoder and network connection. |
| Video looks soft or blocky | Bitrate may be too low for the scene, resolution, motion, or codec configuration | Start from YouTube’s 8 Mbps recommendation for H.264 720p30, verify the encoder is actually sending the chosen resolution and frame rate, then test changes against the real scene. |
| Audio clips, disappears, or clicks at the loop point | Gain peaks, an audio track is missing, or the source has a discontinuity at the transition | Check the encoder’s audio meter and the Live Control Room preview; inspect and audition the source transition and confirm AAC stereo at the intended sample rate. |
| Encoder cannot connect to the event | Wrong stream URL or key, stale credentials, or a protocol mismatch | Copy the current URL and key from the intended event in Live Control Room, verify RTMPS, and keep the key private. |
| YouTube recording is missing or rewind is unavailable | The event exceeded 12 hours, where archive capture or DVR may be limited | Use the local recording as the dependable copy and plan shorter sessions if YouTube archives or rewind are important. |
| Primary encoder failure interrupts programming | No tested backup path or no one watching for the interruption | Test backup failover before the event and assign monitoring responsibility; do not treat continuous operation as guaranteed. |
