To loop a restaurant promo as a YouTube livestream, play the approved video or playlist in OBS, send OBS to YouTube Live with your channel’s stream key, and leave the computer and internet connection running. YouTube’s ordinary Loop control repeats playback for viewers; it does not turn a video into a livestream. This guide covers both cases, with Kannada promo checks for franchise operators.
Choose the right kind of loop

The steps below are for the second case: a live feed that keeps replaying prerecorded restaurant content. The stream is not a live camera view.
Before you set up the stream
Prepare franchise-approved creative
- Use video, logos, menu imagery, offer wording, and music that the franchise has approved for the channel and intended territory.
- Check that the aspect ratio, picture, and audio work in the display context. Verify prices, dates, conditions, and availability in any offer; do not leave expired promotions in a loop.
- If the promo is in Kannada, have the franchise or channel owner verify the script, spelling, local wording, and approved brand names. The technical setup does not establish a preferred Kannada variety or translation.
Confirm channel eligibility early
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available, so enable it well before the intended broadcast. Confirm rights and disclosure
The channel operator needs the necessary rights for everything in the broadcast, including music. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Confirm that the actual music and video licenses cover the livestream and relevant territory; franchise approval alone does not establish the licensing scope.

YouTube’s Branded Content Policies apply to livestreams. If the arrangement involves content influenced by a brand partner in exchange for something of value, assess whether it meets YouTube’s paid-promotion definition and declare paid promotion in Studio when applicable. A franchise’s own promotion does not automatically establish whether that definition applies; check the agreement with the franchise or channel owner.
Set up OBS to loop one promo or a playlist
OBS is a do-it-yourself option: the computer running OBS and its internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue. The OBS source controls differ depending on whether you have one video or several.

For one video: use Media Source
- Open OBS and create or select a scene for the promo.
- In the scene’s Sources panel, add a Media Source and select the approved local video file.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source settings. OBS describes this as restarting the file when it reaches the end. Confirm the source appears correctly in the preview and that its audio is audible.
For several videos: use VLC Video
- Install VLC if it is not already installed; OBS’s VLC source depends on VLC being present.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source, create a playlist, and arrange the videos in the intended order.
- Enable Loop Playlist, then check the preview and audio. The playlist should restart after the final item.
OBS documents the Media Source and VLC playlist options in its Media Sources guide. Test transitions between files, including the end of the last clip and restart of the first, before making the event public.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room. Create or select the live event and retrieve its stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains this flow: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- In OBS, open Settings and then Stream. Select YouTube as the service and enter the stream key, or use the available connection method shown in your OBS version. Enter the stream URL if the setup asks for it.
- Treat the stream key like a password. YouTube uses it to identify where the encoder sends the feed and to accept that feed. Do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream. If it is exposed, replace or reset it through YouTube’s stream settings.
- Start sending the encoder feed from OBS. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before starting the public event. Confirm the event’s visibility and access setting in YouTube Studio.
Choose encoder settings and test the connection
There is no single bitrate that suits every resolution and connection. YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guide lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, recommends CBR bitrate encoding, supports frame rates up to 60 fps, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not over four seconds. It gives bitrate recommendations by resolution; select the resolution and bitrate from that guidance based on measured upload capacity rather than treating a value for one resolution as universal. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport.

- Test upload speed before the broadcast and choose a stream quality the connection can sustain.
- Check the YouTube preview for framing, motion, and audio, and confirm the event can be accessed from the channel or watch page and on mobile devices.
- Monitor stream health and audio/video quality while live. If available, a wired Ethernet connection is an optional reliability measure, not a requirement.
- Test the whole playlist, including its restart, with representative motion and sound. YouTube’s live-stream tips also describe testing encoder failover by disconnecting Ethernet; that is a test procedure, not a guarantee that a particular setup will recover.
Manage the live event and its archive
After the stream begins, keep an operator available to monitor OBS, the connection, YouTube’s preview, and stream health. If the event should not be open to everyone, select the appropriate YouTube visibility and access setting before sharing it.
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. After the event, review the archive’s visibility—public, unlisted, or private—and check that any offer displayed in the recording is still accurate. See Manage live stream settings and the encoder setup guide.

Troubleshoot common looping problems
