To redirect viewers from a YouTube bhajan livestream, open YouTube Studio → Content → Live, edit the source stream, select Customization → Add under Redirect, and choose an eligible Premiere or live stream. YouTube sends viewers there after the source stream ends. The sending channel must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; a different destination channel must allow incoming redirects.
What Live Redirect does—and when it takes effect
Live Redirect moves viewers from one YouTube live event to a selected Premiere or eligible live stream. You configure the destination on the source event before ending it. The redirect happens after the source stream ends, not while it is still broadcasting. Viewers may need to wait a few seconds for the watch page to reload.
For a bhajan channel, this can connect a scheduled devotional Premiere or another live program to the end of a current broadcast. It is a handoff between events, not a way to keep the same stream running continuously or automatically restart it.
Requirements before you set up a redirect
- Sending channel eligibility: YouTube requires more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes on the channel sending viewers.
- Destination readiness: YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere before the source livestream. If you are redirecting to another channel’s live stream, that channel must permit incoming redirects.
- Live streaming access: YouTube’s general live-stream setup guidance says a channel must be verified and have had no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. These are general live-stream requirements, separate from the redirect eligibility rules.
- Encoder connection, if applicable: Have the stream URL and stream key from YouTube’s Live Control Room ready for your encoder. The URL identifies where to send the feed; the key authorizes YouTube to accept it.
YouTube’s general guidance also lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key. These are platform limits, not a promise that a continuous broadcast will remain uninterrupted.

Set up a redirect in YouTube Studio
- Check eligibility. Confirm the sending channel has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. If the destination belongs to another channel, ask its owner to allow incoming redirects.
- Prepare the destination first. Create and schedule the Premiere, or confirm that the destination live stream is eligible and ready. Setting up the Premiere before the source stream is YouTube’s recommended order.
- Open the source event. In YouTube Studio, select Content, then Live. Hover over the source stream and choose Edit.
- Choose the redirect destination. Open Customization. Under Redirect, select Add, then choose the Premiere or eligible live stream.
- Run and end the source stream normally. When the source event ends, YouTube sends viewers to the chosen destination. Tell viewers to allow a few seconds for the page to reload.
If you send the source feed through an encoder, use the stream URL and stream key shown for the correct event in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Check that the selected event is the one you intend to broadcast before starting the encoder.
Choose a destination that makes sense for viewers
| Destination | Check before going live | Handoff consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Your channel’s Premiere | Schedule and prepare it before the source broadcast. | Viewers may see a short reload interval after the source ends. |
| Another channel’s live stream | Confirm the destination channel allows incoming redirects and that the live event is eligible. | Coordinate with the destination channel so its stream is ready when viewers arrive. |
For a devotional schedule, pick the destination based on what viewers should hear or watch next—for example, a scheduled bhajan Premiere or a live program already underway. A redirect cannot compensate for a destination that is unavailable or not permitted to receive it.

Fix common redirect and encoder problems
The Redirect option or destination is missing
- Recheck the sending channel’s eligibility: it needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- For a different channel’s live stream, ask whether incoming redirects are allowed in that channel’s settings.
- Confirm the destination is the Premiere or eligible live stream you intended to select.
The encoder will not connect to YouTube
Compare the encoder’s configured stream URL and key with the current values in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Check for a copied key from a different event, a typo, or an outdated value. YouTube’s stream key is the credential that lets it accept the feed.
RTMPS reports an SSL error
Check that the server URL uses rtmps, not rtmp. If the URL is correct and the SSL error continues, YouTube suggests specifying port 443 in the encoder’s server settings.

The encoder times out
Verify the RTMPS server URL and confirm the encoder supports RTMPS. If you cannot find the relevant setting, consult the encoder’s documentation.
The stream starts or stops unexpectedly after reusing settings
Inspect the stream’s auto-start and auto-stop settings. YouTube says these settings let the encoder start or stop the stream, and Reuse settings copies them from the prior stream. Check the copied selections before using the reused configuration.

Viewers cannot rewind far enough
YouTube warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. This is a playback caveat, not a rule that every stream must end at 12 hours. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that guidance does not establish how every longer broadcast’s archive will behave.

Live Redirect is an event handoff: it takes effect after the source ends. YouTube’s guidance explains how to configure redirects and encoder feeds, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 uptime or document automatic recovery or restart after an outage. Do not treat a redirect as an outage-recovery system.

For a more reliable broadcast, YouTube recommends choosing encoder quality that fits the available connection, testing before going live, and monitoring stream health and messages while the event is running. A continuous schedule still depends on the streaming setup and connection; the stated platform limits do not establish that a stream will stay online without interruption.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded bhajan videos playing on a YouTube channel around the clock, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos, not a camera feed, and it streams to YouTube only. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; it supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.
Monthly: $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. See StreamNeo for details, then start the free day.
