YouTube’s general guidance does not guarantee that one stream will run uninterrupted for 24 hours, and the guidance reviewed does not describe a separate India-only scheduling procedure.
What YouTube scheduling does—and what it does not
A scheduled livestream is an event in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Scheduling can create an upcoming watch page that viewers can share and use to opt into reminders. When it is time to broadcast, an encoder sends the video to YouTube using the event’s stream URL and key.
That is separate from choosing which media plays at a particular time. YouTube’s published scheduling instructions explain creating the event and connecting an encoder; they do not describe a native YouTube Studio control for switching automatically between morning and evening playlists. Set those timings in the encoder or playlist-automation system you choose, and check its current documentation for exact steps and capabilities.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its encoder guidance does not establish that a single 24-hour event will remain uninterrupted or explain how a stream longer than that behaves at the archive boundary. Check eligibility before scheduling
- Verify the channel and confirm it is eligible to livestream.
- Check that the channel has had no livestream restrictions in the past 90 days. YouTube Help lists both verification and the absence of recent restrictions as requirements. YouTube Help: Live streaming tips
- Open YouTube Studio and confirm the current Live Control Room options available to your account. Interface labels and feature access can change.
The eligibility guidance cited here is general YouTube guidance, not an India-specific procedure. It does not establish special scheduling rules for Indian channels.
Schedule the YouTube event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream.
- Create a new stream or reuse settings from an earlier one. Review the event title, description, visibility, and other metadata before scheduling.
- Publish or schedule the event. YouTube’s scheduling feature can show it as upcoming; viewers may visit the watch page and select Notify me to get a reminder. YouTube Help: Schedule a live stream
- In the scheduled event, retrieve the stream URL and stream key for the encoder. Treat the key like a password: it is a credential that lets the encoder send a feed to the event. Do not expose it in a public post, screenshot, or shared document.

Set up morning and evening playlist changes
Configure the timed change in the system that actually plays and sends your media. Depending on the tool, that may be a software encoder, hardware encoder, or hosted automation service. The workflow and whether timed changes are supported vary by product; YouTube’s event scheduler itself should not be treated as a playlist scheduler.
Before choosing a system, confirm how it handles:
- Timed playlist or scene changes, including the time zone used for the schedule.
- Disconnects, automatic reconnects, and what happens if a playlist transition occurs during a reconnect.
- Audio/video synchronization across files and at transitions.
- Stream-key storage and who can access the credential.
- Monitoring, recording, and recovery if the encoder or source media fails.
- Recurring cost and the attention needed to keep the system operating.
Build the schedule around the intended Indian Standard Time clock if that is what your audience expects, and make the time zone explicit in the event description or channel schedule. This is an operational choice, not a special YouTube setting established by the cited guidance.

Test the full day-and-night handoff
- Set up the encoder before the planned start. YouTube recommends preparing in advance rather than waiting until the event begins. YouTube Help: Live streaming tips
- Run a private or unlisted test event if appropriate for your setup, and verify that the encoder connects to the intended event with the correct key.
- Preview the outgoing picture and sound. Check that both playlists play as expected, that the morning-to-evening transition occurs at the intended time, and that audio remains synchronized.

- Test encoder reconnect behavior and observe what viewers see if the connection drops. Confirm whether the automation resumes the correct playlist rather than restarting at an unintended point.
- Check what happens at the end of the event and around the archive boundary. Do not assume a single 24-hour event will remain one uninterrupted broadcast or be archived as expected; the published encoder guidance only specifies automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours.

Plan the public schedule and playlist rights
Tell viewers when the morning and evening programming is expected to change, and communicate schedule changes. YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable release schedule and says to consider frequency, content type, archive choices, production costs, audience, and revenue when planning. Confirm that you have the rights needed to livestream every video and audio track in both playlists. Scheduling a playlist does not grant permission to use its contents. The cited YouTube scheduling guidance does not determine whether a particular song, recording, or video is cleared for your channel; check the terms and rights for the actual catalog before broadcasting.

Run it yourself or use a cloud service
A local software or hardware encoder gives you control over playlist automation, but the system must stay connected and be monitored. A hosted service can move the continuous playback work off your home computer. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but a hardware encoder is optional and not required just to schedule a YouTube event.
