How to Schedule a 24/7 YouTube Stream With a New Playlist Each Month

YouTube Studio schedules the event, not its continuous playlist. Here’s how to pair a scheduled watch page with a playout system and plan a monthly changeover.

YouTube Studio can schedule a live event and give it an upcoming watch page, but it does not run a 24/7 prerecorded playlist or automatically replace that playlist each month. To do both, schedule the event in YouTube Studio, then use an encoder or cloud playout service to send the continuous video feed. Plan the monthly change in the playout system—not by editing a YouTube video playlist.

What YouTube scheduling does—and does not do

A scheduled stream is a live event with a planned start time. It can appear as upcoming so viewers can visit the watch page and opt into notifications. Scheduling does not supply the live video: an encoder or playout service must send the audio and video to YouTube. Nor do the reviewed YouTube instructions describe a native feature for automatically changing the playlist feeding a continuous live stream every month. YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance covers scheduled-stream settings and notifications, while its encoder workflow explains how the feed reaches YouTube.

Think of this as two coordinated jobs: YouTube manages the event and its watch page; your chosen playout system manages what viewers see and when the monthly playlist changes.

Before scheduling: confirm channel eligibility

YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the day you intend to launch. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guide.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Schedule the event in YouTube Studio

  1. Open the scheduling workflow. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, open Manage, then choose Schedule stream.
  2. Choose the event setup. Reuse settings from an earlier stream if appropriate, or create a new stream. Confirm the title, description, visibility, thumbnail, and planned start time for this event.
  3. Save and share the event. Once scheduled, use its upcoming watch page for promotion and reminders. A scheduled event does not begin sending video merely because its time arrives; the encoder or playout service still has to provide the feed, and the event workflow may require you to go live in Live Control Room.

The labels above follow the workflow in YouTube Help’s encoder instructions. YouTube’s live-stream settings guide also covers options such as reuse settings and auto-start or auto-stop. Check those controls for the event you create rather than assuming a setting from a previous stream carries over exactly as intended.

Prepare and change the monthly playlist

  1. Build the next playlist in your playout system. This is the system that actually sends the live feed—not necessarily a playlist on your YouTube channel. Put the videos in the intended order and confirm that every media file plays correctly.
  2. Check the rights for every item. Make sure you have the necessary rights to stream each video and its music, images, and other included material. A live format does not remove copyright obligations.
  3. Choose a precise changeover time. Decide when the new playlist should take effect and whether you can tolerate a brief interruption. Ask the playout provider how playlist edits behave: a change might take effect at the next item, next loop, a scheduled boundary, or only after restarting. There is no universal changeover rule established by YouTube.
  4. Test before the boundary. If possible, check the new list and the planned handoff before the effective time. Do not assume that editing a YouTube video playlist changes the video feed already being sent to a live event.

Cloud playout vendors describe workflows in which you upload videos, arrange a playlist, and send it continuously to YouTube over RTMP from their servers. For example, Looping Stream and Upstream describe cloud playlist playout. Those are vendor descriptions, not independent performance tests; verify each provider’s current scheduling, monthly changeover behavior, platform support, recovery, support terms, and cost before relying on it.

Send the continuous feed to YouTube

Option 1: Run an encoder on your own computer

YouTube supports computer-based software encoders as well as standalone hardware encoders. A local setup gives you direct control, but the computer, encoder, network connection, and power must remain available for the stream to continue.

  1. Get the connection details. In the scheduled event or Live Control Room, obtain YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it.
  2. Configure your encoder. Select the correct video and audio sources or playlist, then enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the encoder’s streaming destination settings. The exact labels differ by encoder; use its current instructions rather than guessing at a field.
  3. Start the encoder and check the preview. Wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the intended video and audio are arriving and that the broadcast status is healthy.
  4. Go live as required. When the preview is ready, start the event in Live Control Room if your event settings do not start it automatically. Stay available to verify the public watch page and the actual feed.
  5. Keep the local system running. Prevent sleep or shutdown, keep the encoder open, and maintain a stable internet connection and power. A scheduled watch page does not keep a local encoder operating.

YouTube’s step-by-step setup, including entering the server URL and stream key and waiting for the preview, is in its encoder guide. It documents computer software and hardware encoder approaches; it does not prescribe a particular mini PC or computer model.

Option 2: Use a cloud playout service

A cloud playout service runs the playlist on its own infrastructure and sends the feed to YouTube, so your personal computer does not have to stay on for playout. Before choosing one, confirm that it supports the exact monthly handoff you need, how it responds to a lost YouTube connection, what monitoring and support are included, and what the current terms cost. Provider descriptions alone are not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.

Monitor the stream and plan for interruptions

At launch, verify the Live Control Room preview, broadcast status, and the public watch page. Check the actual sound and picture, not just whether the event says it is live. During operation, define who will respond to a stalled feed, a dropped connection, a failed media item, or a playlist change that does not take effect. Compare recovery behavior, monitoring, backups, and support terms before committing to a local or cloud workflow; do not treat a vendor’s uptime language as an independently verified result.

Decide separately how to keep an archive

A continuous 24/7 stream is not a dependable way to create a complete YouTube replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If an archive matters, keep a local recording backup and consider dividing the broadcast into sessions shorter than 12 hours, with operational margin below the limit. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Choose the setup that fits your operation

Approach What stays running Who handles the playlist and feed What to verify
Local encoder Your computer or hardware encoder, power, and internet connection You operate the encoder and arrange the feed and monthly changeover Sleep and restart behavior, monitoring, reconnection, and a local archive if needed
Cloud playout service The provider’s cloud system; your personal computer need not run playout The provider sends the configured playlist, while you manage content and settings Exact changeover timing, recovery, monitoring, platform support, support terms, and current cost

Whichever approach you choose, YouTube’s scheduled event and the playlist system remain separate. The key operational question is whether the chosen playout system can make your monthly change at the boundary you need without an unacceptable interruption.
