1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYes—Python can create a separate scheduled YouTube Live event for each occurrence of a weekday. YouTube’s Live Streaming API creates dated broadcasts; it does not provide a built-in “every Tuesday” recurrence rule. Your scheduler must calculate each occurrence and create an event for it. If by “playlist” you mean having previously recorded videos play automatically as a live stream, that is a separate task: the documented playlist API adds videos to a YouTube playlist, not to a live broadcast as its program.
First decide what you mean by a “weekday playlist”
There are two different workflows that can sound similar:
- A recurring live event: for example, a new live event every Tuesday at 7 p.m. Python can create one scheduled broadcast per Tuesday.
- A playlist of recorded videos played out as a live program: scheduling a broadcast does not make its playlist play automatically. The documented playlist operation adds a video resource to a YouTube playlist; it is not a live-video playout operation.
YouTube treats a live broadcast as an event and a live stream as the video feed sent to YouTube. Creating the event with the API does not capture or transmit video. You still need an encoder or another supported streaming method to send a feed when the event begins.
Choose Studio or Python
| Option | Best fit | What it does | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube Studio | A small number of events or a schedule you are comfortable managing manually. | Lets you schedule a stream and reuse settings from a previous stream. An upcoming stream may appear to viewers, who can opt in to a notification. | Reusing settings is not a Python weekday recurrence, and scheduling the event does not send the video feed. |
| Python and the YouTube Live Streaming API | Repeated event creation or a schedule integrated with another system. | Creates a dated broadcast programmatically; your own scheduler calculates each weekday occurrence. | Does not itself provide recurrence, prevent duplicate events, or transmit video. |
For either method, choose a sustainable schedule and communicate it consistently to viewers. If you stream only occasionally, Studio is usually simpler. Python is useful when the schedule must be generated repeatedly or coordinated with other software, but it adds OAuth credential maintenance, duplicate prevention, and monitoring.

Check channel access and plan the event
YouTube’s current live-streaming Help guidance says a channel must be verified, must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16. Confirm the channel you authorize is eligible before building the automation.
- Pick the local time zone. Define the weekday and start time in the time zone your audience or channel schedule uses, such as Europe/London or America/New_York. Do not treat a fixed UTC hour as a fixed local hour throughout the year.
- Decide daylight-saving behavior. Choose whether the event should remain at the same local clock time when daylight-saving time changes. Resolve nonexistent or repeated local times deliberately, rather than silently shifting an event.
- Choose visibility deliberately. The broadcast requires a privacy status: public, private, or unlisted. Check your channel’s Studio defaults and audience needs; do not assume the event will be public by default.
- Choose a useful title. Include the program or series name and, if appropriate, the date or episode. The API requires a title.
- Decide what the broadcast is for. Scheduling an event and placing a completed archive into a playlist are separate actions. If the goal is a live feed made from prerecorded videos, arrange a supported encoder/playout workflow separately.
Create one scheduled broadcast for each occurrence
The API method liveBroadcasts.insert creates one broadcast. Its required inputs include a title, a future scheduled start time, and a privacy status. The start time should be an ISO 8601 timestamp with a time-zone offset. The insert reference requires a future time close enough to the current date for reliable scheduling, but does not specify a fixed maximum scheduling horizon. Generate events within a practical near-term window rather than assuming YouTube accepts arbitrarily distant dates.

- Authorize the YouTube API client. Use OAuth authorization for the channel that will own the events. The insert method lists the
youtubeandyoutube.force-sslscopes. Store credentials securely and do not expose them in source code or logs. - Calculate the next occurrence in the chosen time zone. Build an aware local date-time for the target weekday and clock time, apply your daylight-saving policy, then convert it to an ISO 8601 instant. Recalculate from the named time zone for each occurrence.
- Check whether that occurrence has already been created. Before inserting, consult a durable record keyed by the intended local date, time, and time zone, or by a stable occurrence identifier. Save the returned broadcast ID after success. This is implementation advice: the API does not provide your recurrence or duplicate-prevention system.
- Insert the event. The following request shape illustrates the API fields; it is not a complete runnable script. Client creation, OAuth, time-zone resolution, persistence, exception handling, and testing still need to be implemented.
# Illustrative request shape, not a complete runnable script.
broadcast = youtube.liveBroadcasts().insert(
part="snippet,status",
body={
"snippet": {
"title": title,
"scheduledStartTime": start_time.isoformat(),
},
"status": {
"privacyStatus": privacy, # public, private, or unlisted
},
},
).execute()
- Persist the result. Save the returned broadcast ID and the occurrence you intended to create. If the job runs again after a timeout, check the record before retrying so an uncertain response does not produce duplicate events.
- Schedule the Python job to run again. Use a persistent scheduler or service, and run it often enough to create future events within YouTube’s supported scheduling window. Monitor failed executions; a script that is not running cannot create the next event.
- Test with the visibility you intend to use. For a first run, private or unlisted visibility may help you verify the event without announcing it publicly. Confirm the event appears in Studio and that the separately configured feed can connect.
Put completed archives into a YouTube playlist
If your meaning of “playlist” is to collect completed broadcasts, add each archive after a video resource exists. The separate playlistItems.insert method requires an authorized request with the playlist ID and video resource ID. It adds a video to a playlist; it does not schedule that video as the live program.
# Illustrative request shape; use when the video exists and you can edit the playlist.
item = youtube.playlistItems().insert(
part="snippet",
body={
"snippet": {
"playlistId": playlist_id,
"resourceId": {
"kind": "youtube#video",
"videoId": video_id,
},
},
},
).execute()
Confirm that the video exists and that the authorized account can edit the playlist. The API reference documents a quota impact of 50 units per call for this insertion. It also documents errors for unsupported playlist operations and for cases such as a video already being in a series playlist; handle these as outcomes to inspect rather than blindly retrying.

Configure the live feed separately
A scheduled broadcast is the event page and timing; the live stream is the feed that carries video to YouTube. Set up and start an encoder or other supported streaming method for the event. Confirm that it is associated with the correct broadcast and that the feed is actually being sent. A successfully created API event does not prove that video is reaching YouTube.
Treat the stream key as a credential. YouTube describes it as information that tells YouTube where to accept the feed. Keep it out of public code, screenshots, and logs, and rotate it if it is exposed. If you use a playlist of prerecorded videos as the source, verify that your chosen encoder or playout workflow—not the broadcast scheduling API—is responsible for sending them.

Common failures and what to check
- The event is rejected as past or invalid: inspect the generated timestamp, its offset, and the conversion from the chosen local time zone. Ensure the scheduled start is in the future.
- The event is not public: inspect
status.privacyStatusand the event’s visibility in Studio. The API accepts public, private, or unlisted; set the intended value explicitly. - Authorization or live permission fails: confirm OAuth was granted for the correct channel, the request uses an accepted scope, and the channel meets live-streaming eligibility requirements.
- The job creates duplicate events: make creation idempotent in your own storage. Record an occurrence before or after insertion with a recovery strategy for interrupted requests; do not assume the API knows your weekday rule.
- The event exists but has no video: check the encoder or supported feed method, its connection status, and whether it is sending to the intended broadcast. Event creation alone does not start transmission.
- Repeated inserts fail or hit a limit: inspect the API error and your request cadence. The insert reference lists error categories including rate limits and broadcast limits; avoid aggressive retry loops and monitor failures.
- A playlist insertion fails: verify the playlist ID, video ID, authorization, and whether the item is already present or the playlist operation is supported. Do not repeatedly retry a permanent permissions or validation error.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your actual goal is a continuous YouTube channel built from uploaded videos, rather than a new weekday event with a separately transmitted live feed, StreamNeo is a different workflow: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It does not create weekday event recurrences or stream from a camera.
- Any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps streams as made, at one price per slot; there are no quality tiers.
- If YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers it.
- The first day is free with no card, once per account.
- One slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and StreamNeo team support. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes.
Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for the service and current plan details. Upload-time calculator, cloud vs PC cost calculator, and copyright safety checklist are also available. Start your free first day on StreamNeo.
