A YouTube playlist page alone does not create a livestream. Set up channel access first, connect your playout system through YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, test the broadcast, and make sure you have permission to stream every recording.
What you need for a continuous bhajan livestream
The setup has two jobs: play the bhajan material in a repeatable sequence, and encode and send that output to YouTube. Depending on the method, both jobs may run on one computer, on a standalone hardware encoder, or in a cloud service. YouTube describes encoders as software or standalone hardware and lists cloud services for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming; confirm that your chosen setup supports your playlist format and can loop it as required (YouTube’s encoder directory).
- Media you are authorized to broadcast: audio recordings, videos, or a devotional visual paired with audio.
- A playout method: software, hardware, or a cloud service that can repeat the selected material.
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream: verify access well before the planned start.
- A stable connection and test time: the encoder must send continuously for as long as you intend the broadcast to run.
A traditional or devotional composition does not automatically make a particular recording free to rebroadcast. Rights in the composition and in a specific performance or recording can differ; address permissions before building the schedule.
Check YouTube live-streaming access before preparing the playlist
Your channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions within the previous 90 days. If you are enabling live streaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s eligibility guidance. Complete this check ahead of the date you plan to go live rather than discovering a restriction during setup.

Choose where the bhajan playlist will run
Computer with streaming software
Use this route if you want to manage playback locally and can keep the computer, software, power, and internet connection running throughout the broadcast. Configure the media player or streaming software to repeat the intended tracks or videos, and verify that the encoder receives both the audio and the visual you want viewers to see. YouTube’s setup material does not specify a universal looping control for every software product, so check the instructions for the software you select.
Standalone hardware encoder
A hardware encoder is an option when you want a physical appliance rather than a general-purpose computer. It is not required for an audio-led stream. Before choosing one, check that it supports YouTube’s streaming protocol, unattended restart behavior, audio input and media playout, and the ability to repeat prerecorded content. Confirm that its visual and transition features match your intended presentation; the official encoder directory does not establish a best model or price.

Cloud continuous-stream service
A cloud service can run prerecorded playback away from your home computer. Check the provider’s current playlist, format, restart and outage-recovery behavior, availability, and pricing before relying on it for a long-running broadcast. Whichever method you choose, it does not bypass YouTube’s copyright scanning or remove the need for broadcast rights.
Prepare a playlist you have permission to stream
- Identify each recording. Keep a list of the exact tracks or videos, including who performed and recorded them where that information is available.
- Confirm broadcast permission. A track being publicly viewable on YouTube, described as “copyright free,” or based on a traditional bhajan is not by itself proof that you may rebroadcast that recording. Credit, a disclaimer, or religious purpose does not replace permission.
- Check platform allowlisting when applicable. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream or prompt a warning; continued use may interrupt or terminate it. Even licensed material may be interrupted unless the rights holder adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” See YouTube for Artists’ live guidance and YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
- Choose the visual format. Decide whether viewers will see the original video, a static devotional image, or another authorized visual. Confirm that the playout and encoder can sustain the chosen combination of audio and video.
- Set the repeat behavior. Configure looping or continuous playback in the selected playout system and test the transition from the last item back to the first. Do not assume YouTube Studio itself will loop a playlist for you.
Create and connect the stream in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to open the Live Control Room. Use its Stream tab to create a stream or load prior stream settings. YouTube notes that prior settings can include the stream key.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone with access to it may be able to send a signal to your stream.
- In your encoder, select YouTube if that option is available. Otherwise, copy the server URL and stream key from the Live Control Room into the encoder’s stream settings. Follow the current YouTube setup steps at YouTube Help: stream using an encoder.
- For an immediate broadcast, start the encoder and follow the Live Control Room’s start workflow. For a scheduled broadcast, go to Manage → Schedule stream. At broadcast time, start the encoder, wait for the preview, then select Go live.
- After going live, confirm the public watch page, the audio, and the visual presentation from a viewer’s perspective.
Test the audio, video, and connection before going public
Run a test with representative bhajan material before publishing. YouTube recommends testing representative audio and motion, checking upload speed, and monitoring stream health. Its bitrate recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate, so use the guidance for your actual encoder settings rather than choosing a bitrate by guesswork (YouTube Help: encoder settings and stream health).

- Listen for clipping, silence, unexpected gaps, and uneven levels, including at the playlist loop point.
- Check that the selected visual appears correctly and remains in sync with the audio if you are streaming video.
- Confirm the Live Control Room preview and stream-health status before inviting viewers.
- Make sure your upload connection can sustain the chosen output; a static image with audio usually needs less motion-oriented video capacity than full-motion video, but the encoder still has to send a stable stream.
- For a private workflow check, use an unlisted test stream where appropriate; do not use copyrighted music in a test unless you have the necessary rights.
Plan for stream length, restarts, and archives
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that a single broadcast will remain live indefinitely or that a stream running longer than that threshold will be archived. Continuous playback and archive availability are separate issues. If you need round-the-clock output, check how your encoder or service handles scheduled boundaries, disconnections, restarts, and recovery, and plan how the public stream will be maintained across them. You cannot start a live stream
Check channel verification and live-streaming restrictions. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it in advance rather than troubleshooting at the scheduled start.

The encoder does not connect
Confirm that the stream key and server URL match the current stream in Live Control Room, and check that the key was entered in the encoder’s streaming settings. If you reused older settings, verify that they still correspond to the stream you intend to start.
The playlist stops or fails to repeat
Check the playout system’s repeat or loop setting and test the end-to-start transition. YouTube is the destination and control room; it does not provide a universal playlist-looping control for the encoder workflow described here.

The audio is missing, distorted, or out of sync
Verify the encoder’s audio source, levels, and format, then run a new test with the exact media and settings you plan to use. If video is present, check synchronization and confirm that the correct audio track is being sent.
YouTube shows a copyright warning or replaces the stream
Stop and review the matched material and your rights. A license may not prevent interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Coordinate with the rights holder or label/distributor as needed; do not assume that credit or a devotional purpose resolves the match.
The stream drops during a long broadcast
Check encoder logs, local power and internet if playback runs at home, and the service’s documented restart and recovery behavior if it runs elsewhere. Test the recovery path before depending on it; do not assume an encoder or service will resume automatically.
