First check whether the YouTube broadcast actually stopped. A stream launched directly from LiveReacting runs on its cloud servers, so a home internet outage alone should not require a restart. LiveReacting also says brief drops reconnect automatically. If the broadcast has ended, check for errors in the LiveReacting dashboard, confirm your YouTube channel connection, then recreate the stream and go live again.
Check whether the stream is really offline
- Open the public YouTube watch page and check whether it still shows the broadcast as live.
- Check the LiveReacting dashboard for the stream’s status and any error messages. LiveReacting recommends checking its dashboard when a stream fails. See its YouTube Live troubleshooting guidance.
If LiveReacting is still broadcasting directly from its cloud, do not restart just because your home connection dropped. LiveReacting says you can close the tab or switch off your device after the stream is live; the broadcast continues from its servers. Its device-on guidance explains this cloud-hosted workflow.
If the LiveReacting broadcast has ended
- Read the dashboard error. Use the message to identify whether the problem is with the stream or its YouTube connection.
- Confirm the YouTube channel connection is active. Reconnect it if LiveReacting indicates it is no longer connected.
- Recreate the stream. If the failure persists, set up the broadcast again in LiveReacting and go live. LiveReacting’s tutorial describes checking dashboard errors, confirming the channel connection and recreating a failed stream.
LiveReacting says brief connection drops reconnect automatically, but the cited guidance does not give a retry duration or specify exactly when a drop counts as a failure. Check the dashboard and YouTube page rather than waiting for a particular timeout.
Check which LiveReacting workflow you used
| Workflow | What to check after an outage |
|---|---|
| Direct LiveReacting broadcast | The stream runs from LiveReacting’s cloud servers, so a local internet outage alone should not stop it. If YouTube shows it has ended, use the dashboard and recreate procedure above. |
| Plugin Mode or a scheduled YouTube event | Identify the external encoder or scheduled-event setup before troubleshooting. LiveReacting supports integrations with streaming software and connections to existing scheduled streams, but its cited help pages do not provide a complete outage-recovery sequence for those configurations. See LiveReacting’s stream settings guide and its guide to connecting to an existing scheduled stream. |
If you used OBS, Wirecast, StreamYard, Ecamm or other external software, the encoder and your local connection are part of the workflow. The steps for direct LiveReacting broadcasts may not apply; check the encoder and scheduled YouTube event settings. The cited LiveReacting pages do not establish a universal restart sequence for external encoders.
