Use YouTube’s built-in Go Live Together feature: the host shares an invitation link, then admits the guest from the waiting room. YouTube documents the go-live steps as a mobile-phone workflow, and its instructions do not describe a separate charge for inviting a guest. You’ll need a YouTube channel and an eligible channel for live streaming.
What Go Live Together does
Go Live Together is YouTube’s native way to bring a guest into a live stream. The host sends an invitation link, and the guest joins from a mobile device. The host controls when the guest appears and can remove them. YouTube says a creator can invite anyone who has a YouTube channel, but only one guest appears on screen at a time. You can rotate guests during the broadcast.
The video appears alongside the guest’s feed, with vertical orientation as the default. The host can view stream analytics in YouTube Studio; the guest cannot. See YouTube’s Go Live Together instructions for the feature’s current workflow.
Before you invite someone
- Check channel eligibility: YouTube says channels must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Its current help page also says creators must be at least 16 years old to live stream. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance before scheduling.
- Use a mobile device for the documented guest workflow: The host’s go-live and guest-admission steps are described for mobile. You can schedule a guest stream from a computer in Live Control Room, but the documented workflow then has the host go live from a phone.
- Ask the guest to check audio and video: They can check these while waiting. A microphone accessory is optional, not a requirement for sending or accepting an invitation.
- Agree on stream conduct: The host is responsible for the stream’s content and for ensuring the guest follows YouTube’s Community Guidelines, copyright policy, and other applicable policies.
How to invite and admit a guest on mobile
- On the host’s phone, tap Create, then Live.
- Tap Edit to choose video and broadcast settings.
- Turn on Go live together, enter the stream metadata, and tap Next.
- Under Invite a co-streamer, copy the invitation link or choose a messaging option to send it to the guest.
- The guest opens the link on a mobile device and enters the waiting room.
- When ready, the host taps Go live. When the guest appears in the waiting room, select Add, then confirm Go live to start the stream with them.
- The guest can check audio and video while waiting and will see an indication when they are live.
Scheduling from a computer
You can schedule a stream with a guest from a computer using YouTube Live Control Room, but the documented Go Live Together process has the host start the broadcast from a mobile phone. For a quick stream, start directly from the host’s phone using the steps above. Do not confuse this with ordinary webcam streaming: YouTube’s webcam instructions explain selecting a webcam and microphone in Live Control Room; they do not describe those desktop webcam controls as a way to invite a Go Live Together guest.

Fix invitation and guest issues
The invite link will not open
If a link does not open correctly in a messaging app, send it by email or text instead.
You need to invalidate an old invitation
Reset the invitation link from the co-streamer invitation controls, then send the new link to your guest.

The guest is not appearing in the stream
Check that the guest opened the invitation on a mobile device and is in the waiting room. The host must select Add when the guest appears there, then confirm Go live.
Host responsibilities during the broadcast
The host remains accountable for what is streamed, including the guest’s contribution. YouTube provides the host with moderation controls and the ability to remove the co-streamer. If a guest’s content breaches YouTube rules or the broadcast needs to continue without them, remove the guest using those controls.
