Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPut the intro, repeating playlist, and outro into one continuous program in your encoder or playback tool: play the intro once, loop the playlist, and trigger the outro when you are ready to end. YouTube Live receives the feed; it does not provide a universal encoder-independent control for arranging this sequence. The exact setup depends on the tool you choose.
How the sequence works
Your encoder or playback tool produces the video and audio sent to YouTube. Arrange the media there in this order:
- Play the intro once.
- Repeat the playlist for as long as the live broadcast should continue.
- When you decide to finish, transition to and play the outro.
- Stop sending the feed and end the live stream in YouTube as appropriate.
Looping and end-of-loop transitions are tool-specific. YouTube’s encoder workflow explains how to send a feed, but does not establish a universal control for looping media or automatically switching to an outro. Check your selected tool’s current documentation for its sequence, repeat, and transition controls before relying on automation.
Prepare the intro, playlist, and outro
Check your media and rights
Prepare files in formats your chosen encoder or playback tool accepts, and confirm you have the rights to every video and audio element. YouTube’s setup guidance requires creators to comply with its policies and rights requirements. A playlist being prerecorded does not remove those obligations.

Choose a tool that supports the whole sequence
Before building the broadcast, verify that the tool can play the intro once, repeat the playlist, and let you trigger an outro when you choose. Also check whether the sequence can run for your planned duration and how you will monitor it. YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; dedicated hardware may suit higher-production events, but it is not required for this basic workflow. YouTube’s guidance also says creators can start with equipment they already have. YouTube live streaming tips and its encoder setup guide describe the platform-side workflow.
Connect the encoder to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live and create or select an encoder stream.
- In the encoder’s streaming settings, enter the YouTube server URL and stream key shown for that stream. YouTube describes the stream key as the credential and address that lets the encoder send its feed to YouTube. Keep it private; reset it in Live Control Room if it is compromised. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide and Manage live stream settings.
- Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room.
- Check the complete sequence in preview, including picture, audio, the intro-to-playlist transition, repeated playback, and the outro trigger. YouTube advises testing the setup and checking the preview before going live. Its live-streaming tips recommend trying a test stream to get comfortable with the steps.
- When ready, start the public broadcast using the controls for your chosen workflow. Monitor the stream while it is live.
End the broadcast with the outro
When you want to finish, trigger the outro in your encoder or playback tool and let it play to completion. Then stop sending the feed and end the stream in YouTube as appropriate. Whether the outro starts automatically after a particular playlist event—or must be triggered manually—depends on the tool. Confirm the behavior in its documentation and test it before a public broadcast rather than assuming YouTube will make the transition.

Do not confuse an outro with a scheduled-stream trailer
YouTube’s scheduled-stream trailer is a pre-stream feature, not an ending segment. The documented trailer duration is 15 seconds to 3 minutes; the source page states eligibility requires more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. These details can change, so check YouTube’s current stream settings guidance. To play an outro at the end of your looping program, put it in the encoder’s sequence.
What to test and troubleshoot
- The playlist does not repeat: Check that repeat or loop is enabled in the encoder or playback tool, not just in YouTube Studio. Test whether the tool repeats the entire playlist or only the current item.
- The outro does not start: Confirm how the tool triggers the ending segment. If automatic transitions are not explicitly supported, plan to trigger it manually and rehearse the timing.
- YouTube receives no feed: Check that the encoder has the server URL and stream key for the selected YouTube stream, then confirm the encoder is sending. If you suspect the key has been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
- The preview has picture or sound problems: Inspect the incoming preview before going live, test the complete sequence, and monitor the audio and video during the broadcast.
- The stream ends before the planned finish: Check the encoder or playback tool’s behavior for the intended duration and test it in advance. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; this is an archive detail, not a guarantee that an encoder or playback sequence will continue uninterrupted.
