To livestream to YouTube with Streamlabs Talk Studio, connect your YouTube account in Talk Studio, allow camera and microphone access, put your camera feed on the stream canvas, choose the stream’s visibility and details, then select Go Live. First confirm YouTube has enabled live streaming for your channel, and test your audio, video and connection before a real broadcast.
Before you open Talk Studio: check YouTube eligibility
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s eligibility page says: “To live stream, you must have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and have a verified channel.” Check your channel’s status in YouTube Studio before scheduling a broadcast; account prompts and setup timing can vary. YouTube Help: live streaming tips.
Streamlabs’ Talk Studio destination guidance describes an additional first-use process: after phone verification, open YouTube Studio, use its webcam live-stream flow to make an unlisted test stream, then wait 24 hours before using Talk Studio. Treat this as Streamlabs’ product-specific onboarding guidance, not a guaranteed timeline for every account. Follow the instructions shown in your YouTube Studio if they differ. Streamlabs Support: adding YouTube as a Talk Studio destination.
What you need for a Talk Studio stream
- A computer with Google Chrome or Safari. Talk Studio runs in a browser, so this workflow does not require a separate streaming-software download.
- A camera and microphone, either built in or connected to your computer, plus permission for the browser to use them.
- A stable internet connection. Streamlabs recommends Ethernet when available and states at least 5 Mbps upload as starting guidance.
Streamlabs’ getting-started guide gives these upload-speed recommendations: Talk Studio Getting Started.

Set up and start your YouTube livestream
- Open Talk Studio and choose your devices. Sign in using Chrome or Safari. When the browser asks, allow camera and microphone access. Select the camera and microphone you intend to use, then check that the camera preview appears and that your microphone registers audio.
- Add your camera to the stream canvas. Hover over the camera feed and choose Show on Stream. A visible camera preview alone does not necessarily mean the feed is part of the broadcast canvas.
- Add guests if needed. Choose Add Guest, share the invitation link, and add the guest’s feed to the stream as appropriate.
- Connect YouTube. Select Go Live, then Add Destination. Choose YouTube, sign in to the Google account for the channel, and grant Talk Studio access. On the destination screen, confirm YouTube is selected.
- Choose visibility. Select public, private or unlisted based on who should be able to watch and how viewers will find the broadcast.
- Enter stream details. Add a clear title and description, select a category, and review the destination and visibility settings.
- Go live and monitor. Select Go Live to start. Check the YouTube preview and monitor audio, video and stream health while you broadcast.
Streamlabs’ walkthrough documents the Talk Studio controls and sequence in its getting-started guide and YouTube destination instructions. YouTube recommends testing the stream, checking the preview and monitoring stream health. YouTube Help: live streaming tips on a computer.

Choose the right visibility setting
| Visibility | Who can watch | Discovery and sharing | Good fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public | Anyone | May be found in YouTube search and recommendations. | A public event or stream intended to reach viewers. |
| Private | People you invite | Not discoverable in search or recommendations; limited to invited viewers. | A restricted session for selected viewers. |
| Unlisted | Anyone with the link | Does not appear in search or recommendations, but the link can be shared. | A test or link-shared broadcast that should not be publicly discoverable. |
These descriptions follow Streamlabs’ explanation of YouTube visibility in its destination guide. Choose deliberately: unlisted does not mean access is restricted to named people; a person with the link can share it.
Talk Studio versus YouTube’s other broadcast methods
YouTube distinguishes webcam, mobile and encoder livestreaming. Talk Studio is a browser-based computer workflow. Its documented setup connects YouTube by signing in and granting access; it does not ask you to copy a stream key. Encoder-specific controls, such as bitrate or keyframe settings, belong to a separate encoder workflow and should not be treated as Talk Studio settings. Streamlabs recommends reloading and checking browser site permissions when access has been denied. Talk Studio Getting Started.
The camera preview appears, but viewers cannot see it

YouTube is unavailable or Talk Studio will not start the broadcast
Check YouTube Studio for channel verification, live-streaming restrictions or an account-specific onboarding prompt. If this is your first time streaming, follow YouTube’s displayed steps and Streamlabs’ product-specific first-use guidance; its stated 24-hour waits may not describe every account’s requirements.
The stream is unstable or quality suffers
Check the available upload speed and the stability of the connection, and reduce competing network traffic where possible. Compare your connection with Streamlabs’ resolution-specific recommendations above. A speed figure alone cannot guarantee a stable broadcast.
