To show donation alerts during a charity live stream, first connect your published fundraiser to a service that receives donation events, then add that service’s alert or goal widget to your streaming scene. OBS Studio can display a provider’s widget, but it does not process donations itself.
Choose who handles donations and alerts
Your fundraiser or alert provider must record donations and send the events that trigger alerts. OBS is the broadcasting software: it displays a compatible widget supplied by a provider.
- Fundraiser and donation handling: Decide which service hosts the campaign and records the donations you want to announce.
- Alert integration: Confirm that the fundraiser connects to the alert box you plan to use. Streamlabs documents alerts for Streamlabs Charity donations and an integration for Tiltify.
- Overlay needs: Choose whether you need donation alerts, a live goal display, or both. These may be separate widgets.
- Customization and testing: Check the actual controls available in your account, including alert appearance, audio, thresholds, and scene placement.
The OBS Project explains that OBS Studio does not directly provide facilities to receive donations; donation handling depends on an external service.

Create and publish the fundraiser
Set up the charity campaign, enter its details and goal, and publish it before trying to connect it to alerts. Streamlabs outlines the campaign workflow in How to Start a Live Stream for Charity.

Link the campaign to Streamlabs
In your Streamlabs account, open Integrations. On the Streamlabs Charity row, choose Manage Campaigns, select the published campaign you are raising money for, and save the selection. This links that campaign to Streamlabs alerts. See Streamlabs’ charity alert setup guide.

Customize the donation alert
Open Stream Alert Settings, expand Global Event Types, and select Streamlabs Charity Donation. Adjust the alert’s visual and audio presentation to fit your broadcast. Streamlabs’ general alert setup guide describes previewing alerts.

Add a donation goal widget if you want one
In the Streamlabs dashboard, configure the Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal widget and save it. Copy its widget URL, keeping it private. In OBS, add a Browser source, paste the URL into the source’s URL field, then size and position it in your scene. Follow Streamlabs’ donation goal widget instructions.

Preview the scene before the event
Check that the goal fits the layout and that an alert appears and sounds as expected. Use the provider’s preview controls and inspect the scene in the setup you will actually use. A guide cannot guarantee the same account-level behavior for every campaign.

Use Tiltify overlays and alerts
Tiltify documents customizable fundraiser overlays and donation alerts. Depending on the widget, its documented options include colors, fonts, positions, animations, thresholds, alignment, and GIFs. Start with Tiltify’s overlays and alerts guide and its advanced overlays and alerts documentation.
For a Tiltify campaign connected through Streamlabs, authorize Streamlabs from your Tiltify account, then customize donation alerts through Alert Box > Tiltify Donations, as described in the Streamlabs Tiltify integration tutorial.

These documented workflows do not establish that every option is available for every campaign, platform, region, or account. Verify the controls in your account and test your actual overlay before the event.
Keep widget URLs and alerts secure
- Do not show a private widget URL on stream. Streamlabs specifically warns against displaying the charity goal widget URL.
- Add the URL directly to the Browser source rather than placing it in a visible text field or scene element.
- Preview your complete scene so alerts do not cover important game action, donation information, or other on-screen content.
- Test the alert’s visual and audio behavior before the fundraiser, using the provider’s available preview or test controls.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
No donation alert appears
Check that the campaign has been published, that the correct campaign is selected under Streamlabs Charity’s Manage Campaigns, and that the Streamlabs Charity Donation event is configured. Confirm the fundraiser is connected to the alert provider you are using.

The goal widget is missing or misplaced
Confirm that the Browser source contains the provider’s widget URL, then inspect its size and position in the OBS scene. Keep the URL private while making these changes.
The alert or goal looks different from a guide
Provider instructions describe documented controls, not guaranteed identical options for every account or campaign. Check the live controls available to you and preview the result in your own scene.
Choosing between an alert and a goal display
An alert announces an individual donation event; a goal widget shows campaign progress. If you want both, configure both in the provider dashboard and test each in the scene.
