Telltale says it no longer has the license to sell, distribute, or support Season 1 or Season 2. The old instruction for owners to download missing episodes expired on June 25, 2019, so do not assume the original Windows Store service can still supply them.
What is Minecraft: Story Mode for Windows 10?
Minecraft: Story Mode is a choice-driven, episodic adventure set in the Minecraft world. It is a separate game from the Minecraft sandbox title: players make dialogue and action choices that shape situations and relationships within the story. Xbox Wire described the original series as five parts.
The Windows 10 edition launched through the Windows Store as a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) release. Microsoft described support for touch, keyboard and mouse, and controllers. Those are historical features of the Windows release, not a promise that it can now be installed or that every feature works on current Windows builds. Microsoft’s UWP release overview and the Windows 10 launch announcement provide the historical details.
Can you still buy or download it for Windows?
Telltale’s current Minecraft: Story Mode status page says Season 1 and Season 2 “are not currently supported” because the company does not possess the license to sell, distribute, or support them. The official sources reviewed do not establish a current authorized Windows purchase route. An old store page, key, or third-party offer should not be treated as proof that a working Windows copy is available.

Mojang’s May 31, 2019 notice said support for both seasons would end on June 25, 2019, and told existing owners to download any remaining episodes before service discontinuation. That deadline has passed; the notice is not current guidance for retrieving missing episodes. It explicitly included Microsoft Windows among the affected platforms. Read the original notice.
What if you already own the Windows edition?
Ownership does not establish that every episode is installed or can still be downloaded. The 2019 notice urged existing owners to retrieve remaining episodes before the cutoff, but it does not say that the old service remains available now. The official sources reviewed do not confirm whether a particular account entitlement, installation, or third-party copy will work today.

If you are evaluating an offer, check the exact platform and edition, which episodes it includes, the region and account restrictions, and whether installation and episode downloads function. A Windows Store/UWP entitlement, a console release, and an episode add-on are not interchangeable simply because they share the game’s name.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is an Xbox listing the same as the Windows 10 game?
No. The reviewed Xbox Store page is for Episode 4: A Block and a Hard Place, identifies it as one episode in a five-part series, requires Episode 1, and lists Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as supported platforms. It is evidence for that Xbox listing only—not proof that the Windows edition is back on sale or that a complete physical Windows edition exists. View the Xbox Store Episode 4 listing.
