To give Streamlabs Cloudbot a custom name, connect a separate Twitch or YouTube account as the bot identity; Cloudbot uses that account’s username. Streamlabs says custom naming requires Ultra. When authorizing through Twitch, make sure you switch to the bot account rather than approving access for your primary account.
How Cloudbot’s custom name works
There is no separate name field that independently renames Cloudbot. Its visible identity comes from the username of the account connected as the bot. Streamlabs’ official guide, last updated July 8, 2026, describes the setup for Twitch and says the same steps can be followed for YouTube. Read Streamlabs’ name-customization guide.
Custom naming is an Ultra feature. Streamlabs describes Cloudbot and its other listed core features as free, while its product page says Ultra subscribers can change the name from the default Streamlabs identity. See Streamlabs Cloudbot.
Set up a custom Cloudbot identity
- Sign in to your primary Streamlabs account. Make sure Cloudbot is enabled in the dashboard. If needed, add an account through Account Settings.
- Open the Cloudbot settings. In the Cloudbot dashboard, select the Settings tab.
- Choose a separate account for the bot. Create or select the account whose username you want viewers to see. Streamlabs recommends a separate bot account rather than using your personal Twitch username.
- Connect the bot account. In the dashboard, use the “Click here to add” flow to connect it to Twitch. When Twitch opens its authorization screen, check which account is signed in. Twitch may default to your primary account; select “not you?” to switch, then authorize the bot account.
- Test the bot on your channel. Confirm that it appears under the intended username and can respond as expected. The official guide says the same setup steps can be followed for YouTube.
Platform support: what the guide covers
Streamlabs’ Cloudbot product page lists Twitch, YouTube, and Kick as supported platforms. However, the name-customization guide documents the procedure for Twitch and YouTube; it does not establish that the same custom-name workflow works on Kick. Do not assume that general Cloudbot support for Kick guarantees custom naming there.

Fix a bot that does not respond after the name change
- Check that the bot is on. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting guidance says Cloudbot must be enabled.
- Give the bot moderator status. Mod the selected custom bot identity in the channel; moderating the default Streamlabs bot name will not grant that status to the custom account.
- Refresh the connection. If the bot stopped responding after the name change, Streamlabs recommends turning it off, relogging, and turning it back on.
- Verify the authorized account. If the visible identity is wrong, revisit the Twitch connection and make sure you authorized the separate bot account, not your primary account.
