Customize each Streamlabs Alert Box event in the dashboard: choose the connected platform and event, edit its supported message and visual settings, then preview and test it in the software and scene where it will appear. Use General Settings for broad controls, Global Editing for shared alert styling, and variations when you want an alert to change under a supported condition. Twitch and YouTube do not offer identical event types or variation conditions.
Add an Alert Box to your stream
In Streamlabs Desktop, add an Alert Box from Sources. If you use other streaming software, the route can differ: you may use a Streamlabs integration or add a browser source through the dashboard workflow. Follow the setup appropriate to your streaming software rather than assuming the Desktop steps apply everywhere.
Choose the platform and alert event
In the Streamlabs dashboard, select the relevant platform and alert event before editing. Which categories appear depends on the platforms you have connected or selected. The YouTube guide covers subscribers, members, and Super Chats; the cross-platform workflow supports customizing alerts for merged platforms. An event listed for one platform should not be assumed to exist for the other.
Customize an individual event
Open the selected event’s settings and adjust the options Streamlabs makes available for that event. Depending on the alert type, these can include its message text and layout, image or GIF, sound, font, animation, duration, and text-to-speech. Preview changes while editing so you can catch clipped text, awkward timing, or a visual that obscures gameplay.

Event-level settings are the place to give one alert its own presentation. Options vary by event, so use the controls actually shown for the selected platform and alert rather than expecting every event to expose the same fields.
Decide whether settings apply to one alert or many
General Settings
General settings affect alerts more broadly. Depending on the available controls, they can include alert delay, moderation approvals, profanity filtering, and custom blocked words. Review these before going live if alerts can display audience-submitted text or speak it aloud.

Global Editing
Use Global Editing when you want a shared treatment across alerts and variations. Streamlabs’ cross-platform guide describes it as a way to update alerts and variations with the same settings. Shared choices can include font, text-to-speech, animations, layout, and duration. Individual event settings can still be adjusted; global styling is not a reason to skip checking each event.
Use variations for conditional alerts
A variation changes an alert when an event meets a condition. Conditions depend on the platform and event, so select only a condition the dashboard offers for that specific alert. Streamlabs’ documented examples include Twitch subscription and Bits conditions, raid size, YouTube membership conditions, and Super Chat amounts.

- Choose a condition offered for that platform and event, such as an applicable amount, membership condition, or raid size.
- Customize the variation’s supported text and presentation settings.
- Preview it and save the changes. If you use Global Editing, check the variation afterward to confirm its individual treatment is still what you intend.
Set up text-to-speech with moderation in mind
For tips and Bits, Streamlabs documents controls for choosing a minimum amount and voice, setting a spam filter, and using profanity controls or custom blocked words. Its TTS guide says TTS is off by default. Treat that as a setting to verify in your own alert rather than assuming audience messages will be read aloud.
- Choose a minimum threshold appropriate to the event and your moderation needs.
- Select the voice and spam controls available for the alert.
- Review profanity filtering and custom blocked words before enabling spoken audience text.
- Test representative alerts, including text likely to trigger moderation, before relying on the setup live.
Preview and test in the destination setup
Use the dashboard preview or test control while editing. In Streamlabs Desktop, use Test Widgets. If you use another streaming application with a browser source, Streamlabs says to test from its dashboard. Then check the alert in the actual scene where it will run: a preview alone may not reveal that an alert is hidden behind another source, too large for the layout, or difficult to read over gameplay.

If an alert looks different than expected
- The event is missing: Check the selected or connected platform. Event categories are platform-specific; Twitch and YouTube do not have identical lists.
- A variation condition is unavailable: Confirm that the condition is supported for that particular platform and event. Conditions are not interchangeable across all alert types.
- Several alerts changed at once: Review whether Global Editing was applied. Reopen the individual event settings and make any needed event-specific adjustments.
- Settings seem to have changed unexpectedly: Check the active widget theme. Streamlabs says themes can be switched, and switching themes changes alert and widget settings.
- The alert does not appear in your stream scene: Test with the method for your setup—Test Widgets in Streamlabs Desktop or the dashboard for a browser-source setup—and verify the Alert Box is present and visible in the destination scene.
- Spoken text is disruptive or inappropriate: Review the TTS threshold, spam filter, profanity controls, and blocked words, then test again before going live.
Or let it run in the cloud
