Add the Alert Box widget to your streaming scene and run a test before going live.
Before you start: enable YouTube channel memberships
In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Memberships and complete the setup if your channel is eligible. The Memberships tab appears only for eligible channels. YouTube says activation after joining the YouTube Partner Program can take up to two days while eligibility is reviewed. Confirm memberships are active before configuring Streamlabs. YouTube’s integration instructions also require the relevant feature—Channel memberships or Super Chat—to be eligible and turned on.
Connect the correct YouTube channel to Streamlabs
- Sign in to Streamlabs using the Google account credentials for the channel you intend to stream from.
- Follow Streamlabs’ on-screen steps to connect YouTube.
- Check that Streamlabs is linked to the intended channel, especially if your Google account manages multiple channels.
If you later need to remove access, YouTube’s third-party integration help covers managing connected services.
Create a membership-gifting alert variation
- Open the Streamlabs Dashboard and select Alert Box.
- Choose the YouTube Members event, then add an alert variation.
- Select the condition that matches the gift event you want to highlight. Streamlabs lists these YouTube membership gift conditions:
- Membership gift amount is [amount]
- User gifted at least [amount] members at once
- Membership gift level is [level name]
- Name the variation so you can identify its purpose, then customize the available alert elements, such as image or GIF, sound, text, animation, and duration.
- Save the variation.
Streamlabs’ Alert Box variations guide describes these conditions; the options shown depend on the selected platform and event. If you do not see gift conditions, check that the platform is YouTube and the event is Members.

The Members event can cover membership activity generally. A variation lets you give gifts their own appearance or target a threshold, rather than treating every membership alert identically.
Put the Alert Box in your live scene
Streamlabs Desktop
In the scene you plan to use, open Sources, select the + button, and add Alert Box. Confirm it is in the active scene and positioned where viewers can see it.

Other streaming software
In the Streamlabs Dashboard, copy the Alert Box widget link and add it to your software as a browser source. Use the correct link for the scene you will stream from. Streamlabs says event filters can restrict which selected alerts appear through the widget link. Its YouTube alerts guide covers widget placement.
Preview and test the alert
Preview the variation while editing. To test the configured overlay path, use Test in the Streamlabs Dashboard alert settings and choose the alert type, or use Test Widgets in Streamlabs Desktop and select the event. Check that the animation, sound, text, and placement appear as intended in the scene. A Streamlabs test checks the configured overlay path; it does not prove that a real YouTube membership gift was received.

Membership gifts and YouTube Gifts powered by Jewels are different

YouTube describes the Jewels feature as: “Gifts allow viewers to express themselves, show their appreciation, and connect with their favorite creators in real-time during eligible vertical and horizontal live streams, all unlocked by purchasing Jewels.” That is a separate feature, not the membership-gifting variation in Streamlabs. Its territory, stream, and chat availability depend on YouTube’s current eligibility rules; see YouTube Help for turning on and managing Gifts powered by Jewels and Gifts eligibility and availability.
YouTube supports gifted memberships in eligible horizontal and vertical live streams. Gifted-membership recipients must opt in, and YouTube documents additional restrictions; Streamlabs settings cannot override those rules. Troubleshooting
The Members event or gift conditions are missing
Make sure YouTube is the selected Streamlabs platform and Members is the chosen event. Then confirm channel memberships are eligible and active in YouTube Studio. If you are looking at another platform or event, Streamlabs may show a different set of conditions.
The test works, but the alert does not appear in the live scene
Check that the Alert Box source is in the active Streamlabs Desktop scene, or that the correct Streamlabs browser-source link is in the scene used by your other streaming software. Run the test again from the dashboard or widget controls.

YouTube chat shows a welcome message, but there is no Streamlabs overlay
YouTube says an ordinary new membership during a live stream can generate a bright green Welcome message in chat that stays pinned for five minutes. This native chat notice is separate from a Streamlabs visual alert. Check the Alert Box event, variation, and scene source.
You followed Earn > Supers & gifts but cannot find membership gift alerts
That YouTube Studio path is for the separate Gifts powered by Jewels feature. For membership gifting, return to Streamlabs Alert Box and select YouTube Members.
No recipient receives the gift
Streamlabs cannot change YouTube gifting eligibility. Recipients must opt in; YouTube’s cited guidance says people signed in through Brand Accounts and existing channel members are ineligible to receive gifts. Check YouTube’s current gifted-membership requirements.
