To make an OBS playlist start over after its last video, add the files to a VLC Video Source and leave Loop Playlist enabled. Turn off Shuffle Playlist if you want the files to play in their listed order.
Set up a playlist that starts over
- Add a VLC Video Source: In your OBS scene, select Sources, click +, and choose VLC Video Source. Create a new source or select an existing one.
- Add the videos: In the source properties, add the files to the playlist. Arrange them in the order you want.
- Check the playback options: Leave Loop Playlist enabled so the source restarts after the final file. Turn off Shuffle Playlist to preserve the displayed order.
- Apply the settings: Click OK, then start or preview the source. After its last file finishes, playback should return to the beginning of the playlist.

Why the regular Media Source is different
OBS’s standard Media Source is for an individual media file. Its Loop option repeats that file when it finishes. To restart a list of multiple files as a playlist, use VLC Video Source and its Loop Playlist setting instead.
If VLC Video Source is missing
Install VLC for the source to appear in OBS. If you use 64-bit OBS, OBS says to install 64-bit VLC as well. The documented VLC Video Source is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux; see the OBS documentation for the source requirements.

Optional alternatives and end-of-playlist automation
Use a playlist plugin
The third-party Media Playlist Source is an alternative to VLC Video Source. Its OBS resource page lists OBS 30.0.0 as the minimum version and Windows, macOS, and Linux as supported platforms. Features described on that page, including playlist editing and options for which file to play when the source restarts, belong to the plugin; they are not standard OBS controls.
Trigger an action when the list ends
Repeating a playlist and detecting its end to trigger an automation are different goals. The Advanced Scene Switcher discussion explains that continuous VLC playlist looping prevents the end state from being detected. For the described workaround, turn off Loop Playlist and let the scene-switcher automation detect the end and restart the playlist. See the Advanced Scene Switcher discussion for details.

Troubleshooting
- The playlist stops after the last video: Open the VLC Video Source properties and enable Loop Playlist.
- Only one video repeats: Check whether you added a regular Media Source. Use VLC Video Source for a multi-file playlist.
- The videos play in an unexpected order: Turn off Shuffle Playlist if you want the displayed sequence.
- VLC Video Source is not an option: Install VLC, matching its 64-bit architecture to 64-bit OBS when applicable.
- An end-of-playlist automation does not fire: If continuous looping is enabled, the automation may not detect the end. For the described scene-switcher workaround, disable Loop Playlist and have the automation restart playback.
